Hotel Takasago is just about 300 m down Harimaya-dōri from the JR Kōchi train station – an easy walk, but one could even take the streetcar if it poured. There is a convenience store on the other side of Harimaya-dōri, and in the neighborhood as well as a little down the street there are many restaurants and a large covered shopping district. Some of the main attractions, like the majestic castle and several museums around it, are about a quarter of an hour to the southwest, but the quaint little Harimayabashi Park invites for a breather just about half a kilometer down the street. The hotel is not the sleekest and most fashionable, but it is very well maintained and has a spacious, inviting entrance. Check-in was a breeze, the staff were very friendly and helpful, with a rare personal touch. Some of the rooms have a view on the Enokuchigawa and over the southern part of the city. Mine was on the Harimaya-dōri side, but it had the advantage of being a little larger than the others, giving a nice, spacious feeling – no problem opening my large clam-shell-type suitcase. :-) The room was well equipped, with a very comfortable bed, a spacious desk, refrigerator, tea kettle plus small Japanese tea pot, and tastefully decorated – a pity I couldn't stay longer. Small detail: High-quality tea bags were provided with the best green tea I have had in a Japanese hotel (locally produced sencha). Not to be missed: On the top floor, there is a bath with sauna for the hotel guests (separate for men and women), not large but very soothing and with a view over the city. And if you are lucky, you can get a nice chat with other guests while you soak. :-) The breakfast room/café on the first floor was closed for refurbishment, so I cannot rate the breakfast. But there are plenty of options for having breakfast or other meals nearby. Staying during the week, I got a very good deal (even more so considering the persistent undervaluation of the Japanese yen).
No complaints at all! Out of five hotels on Shikoku I stayed at during this trip, this was my clear favorite. In addition, it offers excellent value for the money.

Everything was very comfortable, fast WiFi, clean bathroom, and friendly check-in staff. I especially liked the Japanese-style communal bathrooms. No problems at all!

The location of the hotel was a convenient walk to the train station. The hotel room is one of the best traditional japanese style rooms that I have stayed in, and had everything I could've possibly wanted from a hotel in Japan. From the onsen on the top floor, tea for morning enjoyment, clean bathroom, and tons of space for all my items, this hotel has got you covered.
The price was a little expensive, but compared to staying somewhere like this back home, I got an amazing deal as it is. I can't think of anything negatives other than the price compared to other japanese hotels.

Staffs are professional and friendly. The location is near Jr station and not far from central area. Japanese breakfast set is amazing.
