Absolutely delighted with this lovely cottage. Beautifully looked after and everything thought of. We were very comfortable inspite of visiting over a storm weekend. We will be back soon hopefully!
The dog should be kept on a leash in the shared garden area. The night we arrived I was facetiming my relative who we we there to visit when a neighbouring cottage door opened and a very excited black lab flew out at my 3 year old and I, barking aggressively as far as I could tell. It had stopped running at us before we jumped in and shut the door - but the loud barking continued. I heard someone shout it back in so I was not going to mention (assuming it just escaped) but over the course of the weekend it became clear that is how the dog is let out and no leash is used. This was a frightening experience for my 3 year old and as someone who grew up with collies, I would expect more care from a dog owner in a shared space. Please read this is the context of an otherwise very happy visitor who loved the cottage otherwise and will be returning soon hopefully.

Property generally very good quality. Quiet rural location, great scenery. Good parking and domestic services. Comfortable accommodation.
The shower was too small with small corner access doors, certainly a pinch for me at just under 6 foot. Larger guests wouldn't cope. I suppose it's a limitation of the property but not premium facility. The shower was very weak too. Not enough/large enough towels either. We had to clean plates glasses and cutlery as they were greasy on arrival. Only one dishwasher tablet provided, assume that was problem for previous guests but we hand washed plates etc.

Beautiful location in the countryside. Peaceful and quiet.
The fittings and equipement were rather basic and worn out, not enough cutlery, glasses, etc. The rooms were really cramped and there were no wardrobes to put your stuff in. In some rooms there wasn't enough space to open your suitcases properly. Other than on the beds, naturally. Pans didn't really work on the flat electric cooker hubs beacuse their bottoms were not flat any more. And the cottages with two bedrooms were extremely accoustic - if anyone went to the loo at night, the noise would wake you up.

We liked the location, close to Campbeltown but still between the fields, very quiet ( except for some beeeh from the sheep)
Nice comfy sofa’s and beautiful view from the downstairs window. Did feel a bit tired an cramped.
The sheep added to the country vibe as did the sign “bull in field”. Would have like to be able to look more closely to the castle nearby.
It was good value for money compared to other self catering homes in the neighbourhood, good for sightseeing Kintyre area.
Loved the haggis nachos at the black sheep inn .
The stairs are a bit more awkward and steeper than expected, although the lighting helped, would have like a bit more railing.
Tiny windows in the bedrooms made me wonder how on earth we’d escape in case of a fire downstairs!

The location, flocks of birds swooping around the hedgerows and fields

We liked the rural location and its central location to the attractions we had planned.
We hated the smell of dampness in the cottage and there were signs of mould on some of the paintwork and windows.
Felt the whole cottage was well overdue a coat of paint.

The cottages are to be found a short drive from Campbeltown in a quiet location and easy to find, clearly signposted from the road which also gives easy access to the south of Kintyre. MacLeod cottage is a good size for one or two people and comfortably appointed. Plenty of parking space adjacent to the cottage. Quite good dark skies if you like stargazing.
On arrival I found a handwritten note and a bottle of wine left as an apology for the fact that the refrigerator wasn't working. Leaving aside the obvious assumptions this information should have been communicated in advance, even a message on the morning of my arrival would have helped so that I could have planned accordingly. (The suggestion that I could use a refrigerator located in the laundry shed wasn't really practical since this was located at the far end of the compound and who wants to go outside every time they want to make a cuppa or cook a meal?) WiFi was very slow when the other cottages were occupied and sharing the limited bandwidth. Shower room is a bit cramped.

The cottage had not been cleaned in preparation for the stay! The windowsills and bathroom floor were unacceptably dirty. We were unable to use the shower and cooker for the same reason. There was a used towel on the rail in the bathroom! The heater in the main bedroom, the light in the kitchen area and the plug in the washbasin were broken. There were no cleaning products and the caretakers were not on site during the time we were there. We wiped down surfaces ourselves with hot water and paper towels on our Sunday night arrival.

The cottage was cosy, as expected, the furnishings were lovely. Big spacious bedroom but the bed wasn’t very comfy.
Good WiFi .
Bed wasn’t comfy and the fridge did not work. I did notify the host but it was not fixed when we left.

The accommodation and location was excellent. Clean, well equipped, peaceful, only 10mins from Campbeltown and everything we needed for our short stay. The views and surrounding countryside were beautiful. Alfie the on site dog was super friendly 😍 and his owners were lovely and helpful.
Having to leave!

Great to have a modern kitchen and bathroom and still felt like a charming cottage in beautiful surroundings.

Gorgeous little cottage just on the outskirts of Campbeltown. Short drive to local shops, Mull of Kintyre and Machrihanish. Newly renovated with a well equipped kitchen, Wifi and comfortable furnishings. So peaceful and lovely to be able to go for walks around the property. Caretakers on-site if you need them for anything and their friendly dog Alfie loves to come out and greet visitors. We enjoyed our stay so much we’ve already booked our next stay here !

Location rural. Perfect for star gazing and relaxing and a great base for investigating the Ki tyre Peni sula whilst Campbelltown only 10 Mins drive for provisions. Lots extra provided on site not normally seen. Will return.
Bed mattress OK but a luxury one would finish off this property perfectly.

The perfect place to chill and unwind. Loved it even the early morning cow alarm. If you want a bit off grid in lovely country side this is your place.

Location outstanding. Hosts welcoming and very helpful. So useful to have them on site.
Bathroom needs updating. Car park requires extending though I believe they have this in hand.

The cottages are in a superb location, out in the Kintyre countryside and far from the rumble of traffic. The word we chose to describe our time there was "idyllic". The peace and quiet, with only the tranquil summertime ambience of the bucolic surroundings almost forces mindfulness. Heaven.
Yet Campbeltown, with a convenient Tesco and a range of fascinating shops, is only 5 minutes drive away. In fact, we found the cottages to be pretty central for everywhere that we needed to visit (Campbeltown, Southend, the Mull of Kintyre, Machrahinish, Saddell and Carradale).
Some beer glasses would have been useful, but that's only a minor complaint. We were there because I am writing a book on walking in the Kintyre area, so we didn't actually spend a great deal of time at the property.

Great couple running the place with Alfie the dog. Polite and helpful. Stunning surroundings with a super clean cottage. Will become our regular stay from now on.

Not applicable. It was self catering.
No real complaints. The statistics of the second bed could have been clearer on the website but it was fine. Wouldn't reduce my score over it.

The MacLeod cottage was perfect for us two and our dog. Having the field next door for her to get a good run in was fantastic. Shanan &Tracy are a lovely couple (as is their pooch) who made us feel very welcome. The cottage is well kept and has amazing views all round. Just fab!
Nothing negative to say.

I liked that everything we needed was provided.
The caretakers were always on hand to help
Nice quiet location
Nothing but the stairs are very different and not suitable for very small children - we just managed with a 6 year old being super careful.
