La Villa Mandarine

Absolutely beautiful villa with a riad courtyard and stunning gardens. We took a suite and it was gorgeous, the bed extremely comfortable, with a little private terrace and artistic decoration throughout. The breakfast was excellent and the staff very helpful. The restaurant is a little pricey but the food was good. It is a long way from amenities and the core parts of Rabat and taxis can be hard to come by when you’re trying to get back because drivers tend to have regular local runs and don’t want to go as far out; but if you’re there for downtime in stylish surroundings, you’ll love it - swimming pool, gardens, snack bar, pool room, spa.

The location is a fair way out and that can make getting around a little difficult unless you drive. And one particular annoyance was one we’ve come across elsewhere in Morocco- the sudden odd rejection of every credit card you own (including our Moroccan Banque Populaire card) when you try to pay for your restaurant meal. The cards worked everywhere else, so I can only assume a glitch in the system or a way of trying to make you pay cash.
