Convenient, unique and charming.

It was a privilege to stay in this centuries-old historic building. Full of quirky period features. The huge bed was super comfy. Location right opposite the castle is superb.

The ladder-like staircase to the bedroom was a bit awkward. Noise from the tram-line was a bit annoying until I got used to it - just wear earplugs and that solves the problem.

Fabulous, would return

The location was fantastic. It was spacious, and they provided all the bits and bobs you could need. Extra toilet roll, shower gel, dishwasher tablets etc. which saves you buying when only staying a few nights. Having the castle outside the house was incredible.

I would say if you’re a light sleeper bring ear plugs, the trams are directly outside your door and continue into the early hours. Mosquito spray would be advisable to purchase if you know you’re tasty, I was eaten alive in bed.

Location and general layout in each floor. Very clean, wide and comfortable bed, very efficient and smooth contact with operator.

The apartment is organized in 3.5 floors, imposing significant use of stairs, which is not explicitly mentioned in the property description. Access to the upper floor (sleeping room) made through a VERY steep stair, requiring extra care especially when coming down. This is not mentioned in the property description, barely possible to guess from the last photo there. I include here the photos showing the stairs.

You will never stay closer to a castle without staying in the castle itself! This property really did exceed our expectations whilst travelling to Ghent

There really isn't much to dislike. A quirky and comfortable home of both antique and modern stature in a practical and easy to get to location

Amazing house, right in the centre of Ghent. The castle view is fabulous, and the house is really spacious and comfortable, and excellent value for money. The photos don't do it justice! The location is really brilliant, directly across from the castle in the centre of the old town, moments from most of the attractions but surprisingly quiet. The kitchen is well equipped, the sitting room is large and very comfortable, and the bedroom is gorgeous. We were there when it snowed, and stayed cozy too. Not suitable for anyone with mobility issues because of the steep stairs to the attic bedroom, but anyone else will be blown away by the great value and historic charm of this gem.

Amazing appartement!! So close to the castle and amazing atmosphere in the apartment itself. The fact that it’s next to the castle makes it most special. We loved it and hope to get back at this apartment. My son of 4 also enjoyed it as well!

Amazing, large townhouse right across from the castle and along a tram line. Full kitchen with good amenities. Good communication. Washing machine. Comfortable and clean! Price seems low for what you get- photos don’t do it justice

House has perfect location - 3 min walking to the historical city center. The view of the castle from the windows is amazing. It was really interesting to leave in the old house with modern renovation (kitchen and bathroom). Thank you for that experience.

Just one thing: to reach the bedroom on the 3rd floor you need to use really steep stairs which isn't very easy to do with suitcase.

Nothing we didn't like, but good to take into account that there are stairs, and the ones leading up to the bedroom are quite steep, so wouldn't recommend if you're less mobile

I highly recommend this place for people without mobility problems.

Amazing location, next to the custle and major train lines. Very close to Kornmarkt plaza. Very helpful and hospitable Host Lydia. Everything was thoughtfully prepared to make you feel like at home. Different type of shampoos, conditioners, body lotions. Soft high quality bath towels, very comfortable beds, a lot of English channels on TV, Netflix.

Steep stairs to bedroom is not for older people.

Amazing location.

The location was amazing! You can see the castle from the window. Everything is 5 minutes walking distance. They give you restaurant recommendations. The property manager was very helpful and responsive.

The stairs to go on the third floor are very steep. Shower was very dirty. The mat on the floor was moldy.

Great location in the heart of gent in an authentic old house.

Poor facilities. Toilet downstairs didn't flush, kitchen pans very poor. The stairs were not convenient with children. One staircase was so steep even myself and my husband didn't like it. The baby bed had no mattress. Would have appreciated curtains in the bedroom. The house felt very unkept.

Stairs going up to the bedroom are very steep - fine with a handrail but harder if you're carrying a baby to bed. A minor niggle and what can expect in such an old beautiful building.

The location is absolutely amazing and the view from the living room or the bedroom is breathtaking. It is easy to park in the Ramen car park and walk to the house. We were even able to enjoy time at the park with our dog and only had to cross the road to get there. Everything was clean and tidy. The access with a code is brillant, no need for keys. The hosts sent us useful information.

The stairs can be quite dangerous, mostly the part where a kid or a pet could fall from the first floor to the ground floor. Baby gates could be useful.

The best choice we could have done to live the Belgian experience in Gand!

Sleep in Gelmunt appartement it's an experience itself. It's a typical Belgian house with great, magic views to the castle. The location cannot be better. Just, make sure to introduce 26 Gelmunt St in your GPS not to get lost.

If there is something I didn't like is that there can be mosquitoes. But this is normal as far as you open the windows. So, bring product to avoid them. Then, some NO essential parts of the appartement are not as new or clean as I would like them to be but as far as the beds, bathroom, toilet and kitchen are clean, that works for us :-)

Old and fascinating house just in front of the castle

Everything was perfect. The position is simply amazing, just in front of the castle - so in the very center - but still quiet and safe area. As to car parking, there is a quite close spot falling into the "orange" area where it is possible to park the car all day long for 6 euro. The apartment is an old, fascinating house with a lot of wood, creaking stairs, big fireplace and large windows. the cleaning was ok - even for our high Italian standards. The owner is friendly, fast responding and honest. Highly recommended.

Ghent is a gorgeous place and this apartment is a really great base to explore it from.

The house is very quaint and practical. Kitchen was useful, and the location was fabulous. The view of the castle is sensational. Easy contact with the owner. Great for my 7 and 9yo kids, they could run in the grassy area across the (busy) road.

All was good. Note the stairs to the bedroom at the top level are steep.

Amazing location and unique property. The great value definitely helped with how impressed we were. One of our favorite places we’ve stayed in Europe!

Our only complaint was that there was no soap at either sink (we looked under and around both, so if it was stored away, we couldn’t find it). We ended up using body wash and our own hand sanitizer. There should always be soap provided for guests and available to whoever cleans and maintains the property, but this is even more important during the coronavirus outbreak.

The view was amazing and location perfect. The house has everything you need and Lydia is a perfect host. If I come back I will surely stay here again.
