Gracious and accommodating staff. Excellent food (we had dinner and 2 breakfasts). Relaxing onsen. Beautiful gardens. Facilities are clean and tidy. Great location. I had stayed once before, maybe 25 years ago. The food and service were as wonderful as I had remembered. I took my mom, who spent much of her adolescent and early adult life in Matsuyama but had never been to Funaya. She loved it.
Some fixtures in the room looked a little dated, but everything is well maintained and clean, so no real complaints

Posizione ottima a Dogo Onsen; comoda per usare i tram e bus che ti portano ovunque, anche alla stazione in 15/20 minuti. Stanza e bagno ampi e ben arredati… alla giapponese.
Onsen non all’altezza del nome dell’hotel; in altri hotel abbiamo goduto di public baths decisamente migliori. La colazione servita (western breakfast) piuttosto scarsa per un hotel che costa 315€ a notte! Mia moglie ha chiesto un bicchiere di latte e volevano farglielo pagare come extra!!! Lo ha scambiato con l’orange juice… oggettivamente ridicolo.

The staff were very nice and helpful. The room was spacious and had beautiful views.
They advertised the restaurant as a top dining establishment in Matsuyama so we didn't hesitate to pay for a very expensive meal. However we found the food to be the worst we had in all of Japan. We prepaid for our dinner so we were very disappointed with the quality, taste and ambiance of the restaurant. The breakfast wasn't much better
