What a beautifully restored traditional residence. Our room was tastefully decorated spotlessly clean and had an amazing view of the chateaux through the large French doors and stone balcony.Its wooden floors plush towels and large mirrors completed the feel. This was only equalled by the friendliness of the hosts and the great food and drink. They even kept my robe for me to pick up days later

Nice restaurant with good food. Friendly English speaking proprietor. Character building opposite the chateau.

My partner is lactose intolerant so there wasn't anything he could eat at breakfast except for a piece of dry bread for which he had to pay 10 euros.

The Coq D'Or is very conveniently central. A pleasant old (1908) building with good sized rooms and restaurant downstairs. No parking available other than in the street - OK out of season, likely to be challenging in summer. The room, bed, bathroom were all good and the staff helpful and pleasant. Jonzac itself didn't have much to offer in mid December, with many places closed, such that the hotel restaurant seemed to be the only available choice for dinner.

I had the day's 'menu' in the restaurant, and all the courses were tasty and well presented. However, a couple of hours later I suffered from acute symptoms of food poisoning. Pretty much recovered by the morning, after an interrupted night, but very much took the edge off my stay at the Coq D'Or. Ate a minimal breakfast - expensive for what was offered, nothing cooked was available.
