Hostellerie du Coq d'Or

An absolute gem. A great hotel in a perfect location in this lovely town & a beautiful room with a balcony overlooking the chateau. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious, as was the breakfast. The owners are incredibly friendly & helpful. We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer - we will return.

Nothing.

Very comfortable room with everything we needed and a fantastic location. Staff and owners were super friendly and accommodating.

The Coq D'Or is very conveniently central. A pleasant old (1908) building with good sized rooms and restaurant downstairs. No parking available other than in the street - OK out of season, likely to be challenging in summer. The room, bed, bathroom were all good and the staff helpful and pleasant. Jonzac itself didn't have much to offer in mid December, with many places closed, such that the hotel restaurant seemed to be the only available choice for dinner.

I had the day's 'menu' in the restaurant, and all the courses were tasty and well presented. However, a couple of hours later I suffered from acute symptoms of food poisoning. Pretty much recovered by the morning, after an interrupted night, but very much took the edge off my stay at the Coq D'Or. Ate a minimal breakfast - expensive for what was offered, nothing cooked was available.
