Beautiful hotel close to railway station

Only stayed in the room for about 4 hours and must be the shortest hotel stay ever! We arrived at 3am but the reception team were great and got us checked in quicky. Up at 7 the same morning to catch a train, so ideally located next to the station. Breakfast was nice too

There were only 2 elevators for the entire building and the wait was oftentimes too long. The cleaning crew used the same elevators as the guests. During the Monday we checked out we had luggages and the elevators took forever to come down to the 4th floor where we were. Also, of the 7 days our group of 5 seniors were there our key cards weren’t working 4 times upon returning from the outside.

Located mere steps from the Chamartin rail station, it's a good location for taking trains north (Asturias, Leon, Bilbao, etc), commuter trains into the heart of Madrid, or Metro into all parts. Huge unheated pool is very refreshing in summer. Adequate but small gym. Great buffet breakfast (and decaf espresso) but at full occupancy, some people had to wait in queue just to enter. Firm mattress in room, air con worked fine. Good supermarket 5 mins walk away, and simple, good dining options nearby.

Lobby vending machine for electrical amenities (charging cables, adaptors) needs restocking. No USB ports in room (old property... kind of like a Holiday Inn from the 70's) and outlets far apart. Hopeless mini fridge wasn't at all cold, wasn't adjustable. No kettle for coffee in room. Few amenities. Only one hand towel and one bath towel per guest: if you want one more you pay a deposit for a pool towel. Elsafe hard to use. No shower door or shower curtain so even when careful you leave a mess. No plug for bathroom sink (thank goodness I brought my own stopper).
