Casa Coraje

I stayed at Casa Coraje with a group of friends to celebrate my birthday, and overall we had a wonderful experience. The hotel is beautiful, with thoughtfully designed facilities and a relaxed atmosphere. The staff was exceptionally kind, attentive, and helpful throughout our stay. They also assisted us with booking excursions and arranging transportation, which made everything very easy. One thing that really stood out was how they handled an issue with one of our rooms. The air conditioning wasn’t working, so they offered us an upgrade for a very small additional charge to a private bungalow right in front of the ocean. It was absolutely spectacular and made my birthday stay even more special.

There are, however, a couple of things worth mentioning. There is currently no beach directly in front of the hotel. This is obviously not the hotel’s fault, as the sea has eroded the beach that used to be there, but it is something guests should be aware of if having direct beach access is important to them. The other downside was breakfast. The included options are quite limited, and almost any change, substitution, or addition comes with an extra charge. Considering the price per night, this was a little surprising and is definitely an area where the experience could be improved. Despite these points, we had a fantastic stay. The beautiful setting, lovely facilities, and especially the incredibly friendly staff made Casa Coraje a memorable place to celebrate my birthday.

Mi estadía en Casa Coraje fue simplemente increíble. Llegué después de un retiro de yoga buscando un lugar tranquilo para seguir desconectándome y terminé encontrando mucho más que eso. El ambiente, las personas, la energía del lugar y la calma de la zona hicieron que me sintiera en casa desde el primer día. De hecho, iba a quedarme solo unos días y terminé alargando mi estadía tres noches más porque literalmente no me quería ir. Las habitaciones son hermosas y muy cómodas, la comida es deliciosa y todo está pensado para que uno realmente descanse y se conecte con la naturaleza. Un lugar para bajar el ritmo, descansar y vivir unos días de tranquilidad cerca del mar. Sin duda, uno de esos lugares a los que quieres volver siempre.

Casa Coraje is a stylish, laid-back beachfront property with a lot going for it—and overall, we genuinely really enjoyed our stay. It’s a beautiful, rustic, boho-chic hotel right on the beach, and it creates exactly the kind of relaxed, escape-like atmosphere you’re looking for in this part of Colombia. We would absolutely stay here again. The property itself is thoughtfully designed and very well appointed, with a natural, effortless aesthetic that blends perfectly with the surroundings. There are two pools and plenty of lounge beds and chairs, giving you flexibility to relax throughout the day without feeling cramped. The restaurant is strong, offering a well-rounded menu with good variety. You’re also in a great spot food-wise—Makao next door is excellent, and Rincón Escondido on the other side is a very good seafood option. One of the standout features is the ability to walk into town easily along the beach during low tide, which adds to the charm of the location. The WiFi was solid overall, powered by Starlink. There were occasional latency issues, but nothing major, and staying in the main building terrace helped. A particularly thoughtful touch was the thermos and filtered water station, which is a great amenity in an area where water is not potable. Service was another highlight—friendly and attentive staff across the restaurant, bar, and housekeeping, and a very helpful front desk. They even helped arrange medication delivery for us twice, which was above and beyond.

There are several areas where improvements would make a meaningful difference and better align the experience with the property’s positioning. The included breakfast is far too basic and feels designed to push guests toward paid upgrades. While the full menu is good, there’s no credit or offset if you order something more substantial. Also, the juice selection was repetitive—blackberry every day. The power outage experience was disappointing. While outages happen, the hotel indicated the generator would switch on immediately, but it took over 90 minutes, leaving us in a hot, humid room with no fan or airflow. Even more surprising, the AC does not work on generator power, which is something other comparable properties manage to provide. There is no hot water, which in fairness I should have caught ahead of time. That said, I ended up getting used to cold showers and actually enjoyed them as a refreshing break from the heat—but it’s still something guests should be clearly aware of. Privacy could be improved in the bathroom. The shower has a large screened window facing a staff walkway, and while it’s a service area, better coverage would help. The bed was advertised as a queen but felt closer to a full, which was noticeable. The animal situation needs to be addressed. While being pet-friendly is great, this went too far—dogs were begging for food in the restaurant, jumping on lounge chairs, and one even attempted to bite. There was also a cat doing the same. This detracts from the guest experience and isn’t ideal for anyone involved.
