October Cottage

Lovely, historic thatched cottage with a large garden in a quiet hamlet. The kitchen is especially superbly equipped and that was great as I love to cook. The ancient, thick stone walls and numerous windows kept it perfectly ventilated even during a blistering summer. The owners provide folders full of well organised tourist information for the entire Berkshire and Wiltshire areas. We relished breakfast and other meals at the garden table.

Parking requires care, as does driving through narrow, twisting and dipping roads through high hedgerows in the area.

What a cute little Hobbit house! Location is very good as a base for exploration. Stonehenge nearby. Penny was very friendly. The garden is very nice, plus they have a tub filled with toys for kids in the garage.

This is not for tall people. My partner is 5"11 and his hair brushed the ceiling. The bathtub is tiny and shallow and won't cover much of a midsized body when trying to submerge. Showering had to be done sitting or crouching by aforementioned Tall Partner.

Bath tub is small with a hand held shower only with very low ceiling so showering was a little awkward due to height and only a bath with hand held shower but it was still a shower with good pressure
