Yatama Rainforest Ecolodge

What an incredible experience! This rainforest has been rehabilitated from grazing land into this beautiful reserve where you're surrounded by wildlife of all kinds. The staff are brilliant and knowledgeable. The food was delicious. Ok, yes it rained a lot, but what can you expect in a rainforest? It's in the name. As others have mentioned, you park at a nearby farm and the lodge 4x4 will come get you. Definitely don't try to drive the whole way yourself. You can easily message with Pedro on Whatsapp so you can organize the pickup. Once you arrive they provide everything you need: comfy beds, clean towels, guided tours, rubber boots, a walking stick and somehow also really really amazing meals. You should bring: socks, long pants, bug spray, a few great books, and curiosity about the rainforest. If you hate rain or wildlife this may not be the place for you.

This place is special because it brings you very close to nature. The owner is so dedicated to nature and to preserving the rainforest and its precious species that this passion becomes infectious. Other guests come wanting to experience the privilege of being close to nature, and they come from a wide variety of countries. Meals are served in a common area, and we were amazed at how tasty, colorful, and healthy they were for such a rustic environment.

The rainforest is hot and humid, as we expected. Plan for clothes not to dry, even the quick-dry type. This is the small price to pay for the experience.

Second time at Yatama and as per the first time it really exceeded our expectations. You are surrounded by nature all 3 types of monkey seen in the grounds and many different birds. Especially Toucans on the short self guided bird route. Night walks were amazing. Thanks again to Pedro who was an amazing host.

Great experience being in the rain forrest. Was pretty dark most of the time. Trails can be quite muddy so the rubber boots they provide come very handy. I saw a peccary for the first time on the trail. Breakfast was great as they willingly gave us extra eggs. We left behind a travel coffee cup and they mailed it to us which we are very thankful for.

If you don't like living in the dark rain forrest, probably not a great place to go. Also, if you don't like mud or insects maybe not a great place for you. The room is solar powered, but we had no problems using 2 CPAP machines.
