Pysanka Hotel

Excellent location for visitors to the city. Easy walk to museums, cathedrals, theatres, parks, markets, and many services available in town. An inexpensive ride by taxi to the train or bus station, or, walking distance for budget travellers and backpackers that like to walk and explore.

Absolutely wonderful hotel in a perfect location right in the centre of the pedestrian area of the town. Lots of amenities and places to see, very interesting place and the comfort of the hotel really added to the experience.

Nothing.

Kolomyya is a small town, so I assume there are not many hotels. Pysanka is certainly the best one of them. It is comfortable, it is modern, it is very well located (right next to the world's only museum of painted Easter eggs, or pysankas, hence its name). Another excellent ethnographic museum, of hutsul art, is nearby. And so are many dining places, some serving very fine meals at a fraction of what one will pay elsewhere in Ukraine, let alone in Western Europe. I still remember my dinner in a restaurant across the street: quail soup, rabbit with zucchini gratin, dessert and wine for which I was charged an unbelievable 11 (!!!) dollars.

I was 100% satisfied. But if I really need to complain, then it will about the hotel not accepting cards.

The property is in a great location, right on a main square and pedestrian area with shops, 3 notable museums, and restaurants. Also, you’re less than an hours drive from the famous Saturday bazar in Kosiv, as well as spectacular views of the Carpathian foothills on the way south and west.

Be prepare for more primitive accommodations than in the larger cities. Staff is not always available at the front desk, but can be called if needed. There’s no breakfast available on site, but the front desk does provide menus for 2 local restaurants within walking distance. Coffee is available for 25 UAH from the front desk. Our room was spacious, but the shower was tiny and only 1 wall had plugs (far from the beds, so if you have any sort of sleeping machine, you may need to do like we did and rearrange the furniture).
