It’s a beautiful property in the abbey, very tastefully decorated. Breakfast is excellent, with very high quality of ingredients. Very nice ambiance!
The family room is quite tight - there is no space for family to be together (the room is split into two levels; this is however compensated by a nice common room next to reception with coffee/tea and games.

Access to the abbey after-hours and the nighttime lighting were great. The dinner in the restaurant (Michelin- starred) was exceptional
The room was a bit small and the TV did not stream

It would be nice in the summer but December it was empty and the town was closed up. The nighttime lights are pretty
The room was terribly small and old with unpleasant carpet and mold in the shower. They use so much air freshener to hide something that my throat got raw just breathing in that chemical smell. The restaurant onsite was closed and that was one thing we planned to do

Perfect location for visiting the Abbey...unlimited entry until midnight was a fantastic experience! Finally seeing Eleanor and Henry,Richard and Isabella without hordes of people was amazing !
The room was spacious as was the bathroom. Modern ,comfortable and spotlessly clean with attention to sustainability.
Breakfast was delicious in an amazing setting.
Nothing to dislike here !!
A shame some of the lighting wasn't working as per the display photos.

The Abbey is an extraordinary series of buildings - guests are warmly welcomed. Secure on site parking and outstanding Michelin restaurant. Breakfast amazing!

Abbey is as expected, and the history, whilst all in French, is interesting.
Hotel staff were helpful
Breakfast was well presented but curiously limited. Eggs in individual containers were unpleasantly runny - only half cooked and no way to firm them up. No croissants!!
The hotel is curiously bland - the rooms are clean and functional but lacking character - and the much vaunted restaurant was closed without notice.
Had to ask hotel staff how to get out - guest exit/entrance is really not obvious

The historic bldg, the gardens, the “sound and light show” at night, the renovated crypt under the church, the sumptuous breakfast, the picnic dinner with a modern refined but tasty fare
A wall metal panel in the bedroom was bent and slightly detached.

Wonderful location. Access to the Royal Abbey in the evening after the public had gone. Although there was no space in the restaurant in the evening we had a picnic hamper of hot food to have in the garden. It was super.
Only slight improvement would be to add another comfortable chair in the room.

The hotel is a fantastic setup with peace and quiet and easy access to the town only a short walk away.
Access to the grounds of the Abbey provides a lovely opportunity to walk around in peace and admire the architecture.

The location was superb and the best thing about staying there was being able to visit the Abbaye out of opening hours. It made it a very special experience.
The conversion of the Historic site was sensitively and beautifully done.
The cheap carpet in the corridors and bedrooms.
The bathroom door very close and next to the bed and lack of storage in the room.

Nice family room for 4, healthy breakfast, lots of options, great tea and coffee, kind staff, parking included in the gated property.
We arrived too late to visit the abbey by night!

The room was nice, but lacking in many things - no shampoo in the bathroom. The breakfast was pleasant, but the evening restaurant was abysmal! Of all the courses offered, there was nothing offered that was tempting. This was found to be the case for all 4 of us. We are used to a Michelin restaurant near to where we live and this one nowhere near comes up to our expectations.
The whole meal was lacking in quality and style. We could not believe the head chef was allowed to get away with such awful quality.

Lovely to see Fontevraud Abbey after hours.
Greeted by caddy to whisk off suitcases and husband from car which was some distance from hotel, but I was left to wander, unsure which way to go.
Asked reception about cafe facilities to get a drink, and receptionist told us about the Abbey cafe which was closing soon, but failed to mention the hot drinks available just off reception nor the bar which was opening soon. She said she’d told us everything and foolishly I believed her.
Uncomfortably hard bed, no shower caddy nor shelf so one’s shampoo has to go on floor of shower, bedside tables too small and awkward to reach behind bed. Seemed designed for aesthetics rather than comfort of guests.

Guests are able to visit the abbey at night after it’s closed to the general public, which is an amazing experience as it’s very beautiful at night time. That alone is worth the stay. The staff were also very nice.
It would be nice for couples who are having a getaway and dining at the restaurant. But it wasn’t really ideal for us as we were travelling with a child. The rooms are modern but very minimalist (no TV, no fridge), and the sofa bed for our child was stylish but uncomfortable.
Our experience was that it was a bit like going to a quiet, adult wellness retreat as most of the people there seemed to be older, French couples.
We couldn’t eat dinner there because the dishes were too complex for our child. We also booked the continental breakfast but for 20 euros each it wasn’t worth it, as it was too limited for one adult coeliac and one child. Our child did find it hilarious, however, watching people trying to cut their own bread from the crusty loaves provided, although he wasn’t hungry after he saw how many people held the loaves with their hands, rather than realising they should use the napkin to hold them.

Great place to stay. We had wonderful modern room. We also had access to the grounds after hours and toured the buildings for free at our leisure. We walked outside the gate for dinner at a local restaurant which was a great value. Parking was nearby and no problems.
No breakfast included with the room rate.

One of my favourite stays of the trip. The entire space was so beautifully and minimally furnished, letting the history of the space speak for itself. The staff was amazing and so helpful and the room was super comfortable! We also loved the delicious dinner basket at 35 EUR that was provided by the onsite restaurant, a great way to experience the Michelin star kitchen in a casual and accessible way.
The highlight was the essentially private access to the Abbey and the grounds after hours. It was such a memorable and special experience and I enjoyed it way more than I thought I would have! Highly recommend this stay, it's one of a kind!
The shower was super hot, took me a while to figure out how to turn it down as it was labeled incorrectly.

Absolutely amazing location. The light shows at the abbey and surrounding buildings were absolutely stunning. The small town square in front of the museum entrance looked stunning and offered nice cafés for drinks or a small bite.
Breakfast buffet options were a bit limited, but of high quality. Personally I am never a big fan of carpet in rooms, but it was clean and the room was spacious and we had multiple rooms. All in all we had a great experience.

Disappointed to pay 20 Euro per head for a very average breakfast but amazing breakfast room.
Nothing apart of lack of storage in the room but we were a family of 4!

It is interesting to explore the abbey at night.
The restaurant is so popular that you cannot easily get reservation for dinner. So they provide a 3 course picnic dinner which was satisfactory but we would have preferred a proper dinner. Our room was comfortable but not as luxurious as perhaps we had hoped.

Lovely space, beautiful design, lovely helpful staff, excellent environment.
The food! No coffee in the room - you have to go downstairs to use a machine which often seemed to be out of order. Impossible to book the hotel restaurant, and very few places open in the village. One restaurant was suggested but no information was provided by the hotel about the menu, and the information on the restaurant website was months out of date. So we got room service. The food was expensive and very poor. Small amounts, limited choice, no communication on how it was delivered or where to find it. We had to ask staff until we found the food. It wasn't worth the money and we were hungry overnight.
