Really lovely stay at a great property! So nice to head back home to such a peaceful place after a busy day of exploring. The house itself is great and has everything you need - comfy sofas, smart TV, equipped kitchen, comfy beds and a great bathroom. The grounds are fantastic, and we spent some lovely times having drinks in the garden, playing with our dog and enjoying the views. A couple of suggestions for others visiting: - if you are sensitive to light in the morning, you may want to bring an eye mask as there are no blinds on the windows opposite the main bedroom.- the stairs up to the bedrooms are steep and wooden. We put some carpet squares on them during our stay to make them less slippy. In summary, we had a fantastic stay, and would definitely visit again!

Great location for us, very easily accessible to travel around. Ideal property with some great design features. Slept well. Dogs were settled throughout our stay and loved the garden. Stay was only a fleeting trip unfortunately but we would definitely book again. Thank you

We spent 4 nights over Christmas at the property and had a lovely time. It is in a great location to explore the area, close to the motorway, but in a quiet rural area surrounded by fields. The property is well equipped and has a great kitchen with a fantastic oven. We didn't really make the most of the garden due to it being cold and damp but it was nice to have a safe enclosed space for our dog to explore. It would be a great place to relax in the summer. We made good use of the log burner which made the place really warm and cosy. The only thing I would point out is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep and more like a ladder, with no handrail on one side. It maybe a good idea to have a picture of these on the listing or at least mention them in the description, as someone with limited mobility or very small children may struggle.

This is a beautiful accommodation in a beautiful setting. The description is correct in noting the "eye for detail": the interior decor is stunning. The loft / open concept was ideal for my husband, son and I and the location allowed for daytrips to Bruges, Ghent as well as some cycling along the canal (although the bicycles are in need of some maintenance).

Great place to stay, you are surrounded by green and silence, you can perfectly relax and calm down. Great nature around and easy access to all sight seeing attractions like Brugge, Gent and the coast with its beautiful beaches. Super cosy and nice house, you find everything you need for a perfect stay. We will definitely come again in the future.

We enjoyed our stay in this unusual property in a tranquil location. It is very well equipped and everything we needed was there! We loved the bikes and we used them to cycle the 13km along the river bank to the centre of Bruges.

This is a great house to rest and relax. It is in a great location that makes it easy to get to the beach and surrounding towns. We loved the alpaca neighbors next door and walked into town for a fun food truck rally. It was a nice weekend out of the city.

We had a great stay for a week at the house. It was very well presented with all amenities you would expect. The kitchen/living area was very stylish and also very easy to use. It's rare to go to a house in another country without really struggling to use the kitchen equipment (in particular the oven), but this wasn't the case here. The bathroom was really good with a fantastic shower. The wi-fi worked well. The living area was very comfortable, we enjoyed spending evenings sat inside or having a meal outside when the weather was good. The grounds were lovely and our son particularly enjoyed the trampoline. The location was very good, with easy access to all of the Flanders region by car, bus or rail.
If you really wanted to cycle around the area, there were some bikes available (in excellent condition). We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if we were in the area.

It's a nice place in a lovely, quiet spot. It would be especially nice in summer, when you could eat outside and enjoy the views.
I give this 4 stars instead of 5 for two reasons:
1. It is listed as a two-bedroom facility, but it is not. It is a one-room cabin with an open loft. The bathroom is private, but the two "bedrooms," located upstairs, are only separated by a saloon-style swinging door. Indeed, you have to walk through one to get to the other (e.g., to go the bathroom at night), and anything said or done in one can be readily heard.
2. The stairs that lead to the loft are more like a ladder than stairs. VERY steep and shallow, and no hand rail on the open side. Hard to get luggage upstairs, and could be dangerous for seniors, young children, etc.
If those are not a problem for you, then this is a good place.
6.0 / 10.0
Unfortunately, the property is no longer in the condition shown in the pictures. The terrace has sagged, the pond is more of a pond and the outdoor furniture has always been exposed to the weather and is not in good condition. There were some cobwebs in the house due to the amount of wood, but of course you could keep it clean accordingly. Ultimately too much money for what is offered.

Great property. Positives: stylish but also fully functional kitchen, good furniture, great enclosed yard for kids and pets, fireplace with lots of wood, plenty of water and great water pressure in the shower, easy drive to Bruges and Ghent. Negatives: steep stairs to loft, very warm in loft if there is any amount of heat on in the lower level.

Jo is a very generous property owner who allowed dogs, provided linens and wood for a very efficient fireplace. The kitchen is well stocked, essential with COVID and eating in. We enjoyed drinks on the terrace and the sunrise from the superb glass windows. Thank you Jo!

Dreamy modern cottage in the country
Dreamy modern cottage in the country
This cottage was rustic on the outside and modern on the inside, and it was nestled in the cozy Belgian countryside. Lots of amenities and a full kitchen made it a comfortable, lovely vacation spot. It came with a crib, which was helpful.
The 2 beds are both in the loft, and while there's a visual divide between bed areas, there's no sound divide. So if you're looking for some private time, that's good to know!
Be sure to factor in time checking in and out to drop off the key at the host's home, which is a few minutes away.

Relaxing setting! Perfect for young family with children. Bring your own soap and shampoo even if for 1-2 nights. Kitchen has everything needed. Be prepared to climb ladder type steps to sleeping area in loft. Trees with apples and and grapes on the vines! Pond water very low and may need insect repellant due to mosquitoes,
Bed very comfortable. Love the cows and fenced in yard.

The home was lovely and very stylish. The shower is amazing! Bedding was comfortable though the stairs are slightly intimidating at first to go up to the bedrooms. As many have stated there isn’t privacy that many are accustomed to since you have to walk through one bedroom to get to the loft area. If you’re with family or friends like family there’s no issue.
The furnishings are very well done and we were impressed with the quality of everything. Even had bikes for us to use in the shed. Made for a fun journey to and around Brugge.
Joke is super easy to communicate with and very welcoming. She saw how tired we were from a long flight and drive so she gave us a little extra treat of a couple of Belgium beers and sparkling wine.
Looking out to see the cows and being able to feed the fish in the pond was a bonus.
We’d love to come back and enjoy this home again!

Bravo!

Great location for day trips
Great location for day trips
This property was the perfect location for our first trip to Belgium, and well situated for day trips to visit the many historic towns.
Communication with Joke was always great, and she was quick to answer our questions. If you enjoy being out in the beautiful countryside on your own, this is a great choice for you. You see beautiful green pastures as far as you look. It would have been a bit difficult to find on our own. Thankfully Joke led us there. Although it is out in the country, you are close enough to town for groceries, as well as convenient to the major highways when you want to explore further.
The house was well maintained, and quality materials and furnishings had been used. We found the kitchen great for preparing breakfasts, and had it been warmer we would have enjoyed the outdoor dining area. The many bikes in the shed was a nice bonus, and we were able to take a short ride on one of the country roads adjacent to the house.
We booked a two bedroom because of a snoring issue. The sleeping area is really a loft open to the downstairs, and is more of one room separated by louvered doors so that did not help with any noise. For just the two of us it was ok, but feel a second couple would be too tight, and the lack of bedroom privacy would have been an issue. Additionally, you had to walk through one of the 'bedrooms' to go downstairs to the bathroom. The stairs were more of a ladder, and may present a problem for folks with mobility issues. The water pressure in the shower was supurb! The furniture was very comfy. Don't plan on sleeping in as there are no curtains, and the sun will certainly let you know it is time to get up!
Although we enjoyed the house we found it a bit small. There is no place to put your stuff - no closets, cupboards, dressers etc. We ended up having to live out of one suitcase on the kitchen table, and the other in the living room. If these things are not a problem for you I would suggest you book this property.

Spent 4 nights at Carpe Diem.
We drove over from the UK and head straight to meet the owner. We were taken around the property making sure everything was ok.
We basically loved it here. We brought our small dog who loved the garden.
The home is very very nice and has everything you need.
The surrounding area is very quiet, a few cows and that’s it.
We would come back.

Good house to stay for close family members
Good house to stay for close family members
The house location is excellent - very quite area , close to Bruges and Ghent, biking road, etc. The house has everything what is needed. There is nothing offered by owner ( like tea, sugar, coffee,etc..) Only some leftovers from the previous guests. The first floor of the house is spacious and very cozy, . The stairs to the second floor where the bedrooms are very steep and narrow. So this might create the problem for little kids or elderly people. To get the second bedroom, you need to cross the first one. And the door between bedrooms is way too formal. However, if you are close family , it's not the problem. Like us - we really enjoy staying together. There are 5 bikes so one can use them to explore the area. The house is very clean., and nice pond on the property. There is a big grocery store near by.It was very easy to contact the owner, including check in and check out.I would recommend this house.Thank you Joke for having us.

A Hidden Gem! 💎
A Hidden Gem! 💎
We are a family of four with 1 child, 1 teen & our 2 much beloved Cavalier King Charles Spaniel dogs. On arrival to our destination we were greeted what we can only describe as an absolute hidden gem! A country house surrounded by countryside. It is beautiful. We instantly fell in love & wanted to move in lol. We were surprised that a property as luxurious as Carpe Diem allowed our 2 pets it was wonderful as we love to travel with them as much as we can. The property was very clean & cosy & very well maintained. Joke & Dimitri are very hospitable & nothing asked was too much trouble. We very much enjoyed the use of the bikes that are included for use with the property. We biked to Brugge & back on most days of our stay. Even though the property is located in the countryside. There’s a supermarket, chip shop, cafe’s & restaurants, train station all within walking distance or short distance by bike ride. The garden to the property is huge & there were fruit trees & even a grape vine. There’s also a children’s play area. There’s a good sized pond with various koi carp & the kids enjoyed feeding them. We enjoyed our stay so much that we instantly re-booked up with the owner whilst still on our holiday & we can’t wait to return in May this year. Thanks again Joke & Dimitri! We all very much look forward to seeing you soon 😃 From all the Frost Family including our 2 dogs, Dinky🐶🐾 & Toy 🐶🐾 💕

We were really happy with the place as it was exactly what you would expect form the profile. It is in a nice town not too far from Bruges, set in a lovely rural area. We took the bikes out for rides, and local amenities are close by. Joke was laid back and easily contactable so everything was straightforward. The accommodation was perfect, really modern and homely. Nothing to complain about, only great things to say! Thanks again!!!!

Relaxing time had by all
Relaxing time had by all
Carpe Diem is well suited to both those who wish to relax in its grounds and take in the quietness of the countryside, or make use of the well maintained bikes and cycle along the safe routes at hand. We did both. There is a good choice of paths for cycling along, stopping to pick blackberries en route, watch out for wildlife, or by the side of the canal to pond dip - the bucket was actually provided, together with an identification chart! It is possible to cycle along to Brugge, but we weren't that energetic! However, we did drive there, and to Gent and to the Zoute area of Knokke-Heist- where we found many free to enter art galleries in the latter. Access to the motorway is easy from the house and in the first two towns we parked in Interparking car parks, with reasonable day rates, walking or taking the tram in. Back at the house, we used the trampoline and made use of the boules. There is plenty of outside space at the property. The garden furniture is plentiful and comfortable. You can also eat at the outside table and watch the carp (and frogs) in the pond. Inside the property, Carpe Diem has a lovely, modern decor and is very well equipped as your home from home stay. The view from the larger, suspended bedroom is marvellous. The owner was very welcoming on our arrival, providing necessary information for our stay, and available at the end of the phone should we have needed her. For the three of us, it was an ideal size in a very peaceful location and we had a very enjoyable stay.

Fabulous holiday cottage
This is a fabulous modern holiday cottage in a beautiful, peaceful location. It is very private and there is a large enclosed garden. The cottage has been lovingly furnished and is very clean, well equipped and cosy. Good cooking facilities - big cooker, dishwasher and lots of crockery and glasses. We were four hours late arriving due to closure of a motorway but the owner was very accomodating and extremely helpful. We were made very welcome. We only wish we could have stayed longer. There are bikes to use and lots of quiet roads and paths to explore. Bruges and Damme are within easy reach, as is the Belgian coast. An ideal place for couples. We had our dog with us and it was a perfect place for him - lots of space and walks. Excellant all round.

The Chocolate House tearoom is a must to try the best hot chocolate in Brugge and the mini cake selection was so delicious.

Cozy Country Cottage
Cozy Country Cottage
We enjoyed a long weekend at this wonderfully cozy cottage. Evenings were spent cooking dinner at the cottage on the new stove, which also has a plate warmer and oven, followed by sitting on the comfortable sofa with a glass of wine enjoying the warmth of the fireplace. The bed upstairs is quite comfortable, and all the linens were clean and smelled fresh.
Visits to the museum, chocolate shop, waffles, and restaurants in Brugge are close and convenient. Our dog also enjoyed the large beautiful yard.
Joke provided great customer service showing us the way to the house, reviewing where items were located, how to use them, and then meeting us at the house to return keys. She is truly committed to providing the best customer service.
I would recommend this house to friends and relatives wanting a nice retreat, with the closeness of other Belgian cities to visit if desired.

An amazing place to stay with great hosts
We stayed for a week in late August, the accommodation was fantastic, every detail in the house was finished with a lot of style and thought. The nearby town was peaceful and easy to get too, with lots of facility's.
This was our first time in Belgium and we found people very friendly and helpful (everyone was able to speak English perfectly!) We visited Brussels, Gent and knokke-heist, really interesting places but Brugge was for us the best place, only 50 minutes from here at a leisurely pace on the bikes, lots to see and do in a very relaxed city.
Joke and Dimitri are great hosts and were brilliant with us even when we turned up earlier than we though :) Thanks again for having us, Monika & Colin
