Pleasantly surprised at interior, fabulous food and friendly staff: hope to have an excuse to return
Stunning bedroom, really well fitted out: heated bathroom floor making the space so pleasant. Alex who showed us our room was very friendly and helpful. Attractive bar area with a wood burning stove, tho it would be better if it had been lit earlier, same in the morning as it was a chilly weekend. Champagne, Cremant and Prosecco all available by the glass at a good price. Fabulous dinner, this is way above average pub food, more like fine dining. Very pleasant young lady in the bar - came from Whitby. Breakfast was okay, liked the freshly baked croissant.
Bit more heating in the bar restaurant. There was no fruit at breakfast and I don't think my sausage was properly cooked. Our duvet must have been maximum tog, it was a bit heavy and we were stewed!

Helpful and quick to respond when there was an unforeseeable problem
We had a difficult time because there was a pipe leak at the cottage. We had to leave but this is a situation that can leave you feeling afraid and alone. But in this case the staff were very attentive and polite, and came to help, they got a plumber out and moved us into another room at a nearby pub (the Red Lion, which was also nice) and refunded us our stay. Although the leak was not what we would have chosen, we were looked after very well. The cottage looked really nice, old fashioned style.
The parking is pay and display a short walk away, closer to the cottage than the Dalesman pub itself

Perfect getaway at a great price
Lovely place, lovely staff, gorgeous room with free standing bath, just generally a wholesome lovely base for a getaway!

An idyllic hotel in a beautiful village with great food. We would like to come back!
We chanced upon the Dalesman as a last minute booking and weren’t disappointed. It’s a great, cosy inn, located in a beautiful village on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The staff were very friendly and food was fantastic. We would definitely recommend.
