Amazing location, lovely authentic pub and great staff
Everything was good - the apartment was small for the number of people but the staff were very accommodating in allowing us all to stay so no complaints at all.

The location was perfect and the manager was friendly, professional and very helpful. The bed was comfortable and the place clean.
There was a RAT in the roof space which could be heard loudly above. This is obviously an ongoing problem as when we told the bar maid she said ' oh we thought we'd got rid of that'. There are many large bins outside the cottage.
An abrupt worker came to us when we parked in the car park and told us we could not park there as it was a private car park, despite us having asked if we could park there from 11.am for our stay. He did apologise, but not the best welcome or start to our stay.
A fresh dish cloth in the kitchen would have been preferable to the used one we inherited.

The location.
The shower while in use kept going from really hot to freezing.
The cold bathroom tap not fixed very well in the sink.

Nice pub, great atmosphere and helpful staff.
The room is actually a flat which is directly above the pub kitchen. There was a terrible smell of rancid chip fat all through, it was awful.
We didn’t even unpack, we left immediately and had to find accommodation elsewhere, which at 9pm on a Friday night in a very small village is not easy.
We were given a full refund, but it did take the edge of what should have been a relaxing weekend away at a friends wedding.

Its location and the staff. I was greeted and taken to the accommodation and given a tour. Everything was on hand.
The bathroom was small, however the adequate for an overnight stay.

The location
Poor welcome and exit.
It smelt musty, furniture felt worn and dirty, noisy boiler constantly, bathroom grubby and needing updating. Accommodation dark dinghy and substandard and very overpriced when compared with much better hotels

Beautiful location at the start /finish of our long walk , comfy cottage with views of where we walked

Comfortable and equipped with all we needed for a short stay.
Being above a pub the flat had some food smells, perhaps from the pub's extractor fan. Perhaps windows could be left open to air a little.
On departure day it's worth checking if deliveries are due as it's a small car park and lorries will block you in (and brewery deliveries take quite some time to unload!)

The accommodation was brilliant except for the shower which was rubbish. It was either boiling or freezing.
That said, the positives such as a living area, fridge and microwave really was great.
The fire alarm going off at 10pm didnt help either...

The location is wonderful and was the sole reason we booked it.
From the lack of light making the main room dim and dank making it difficult to see my crafts, to the uncomfortable chairs and sagging sofa, the lack of cookware for the oven, the shower being both lacklustre to the point of being minimally effective to the glitchy temperature control and the shower doors not closing (that’s without mentioning the filth encrusted into of the shower cradle and hose) to the unlit stairwell rising up the property, the hairs in the pillows, it just fell below expectations for the nightly rate.
The property was also not one for light sleepers. The patrons of the pub were no problem (noise and chatter is expected!) but both nights music blared after 10pm. The first night it went on until after midnight and the speaker seems to be directly below the double bed in kinder cottage.
We asked if they could turn the music down the following day, something they assured us they did after 10pm as a matter of routine. If they did, I noticed no difference and, paired with what sounded like chairs being slammed around directly beneath us, there was clearly no care or heed taken to our request.
Just bad. Could only recommend on location, but I suppose that’s what they rely on and ensures bookings regardless.

Stayed here for our first wedding anniversary and honestly , its a beautiful place. Amazing staff , they went above and beyond for us. A lovely young man on the bar specially made me a sex on the beach cocktail even though it wasn't on the menu and it happened to be the best one I've had & was so friendly!! Left him a £10 tip for his exceptional service. Lovely clean apartment, was clean and well equipped for all our needs down to the free drinks tray provided. The softest bed sheets ever. AMAZINGLY comfortable bed. The food is to die for and especially the fish and chips. The best BY FAR!! If your considering staying here PLEASE DO!!! The views are breathtaking from the apartments and beer garden , most of the hills are in view. Will be staying again and coming every year for our anniversary.

Amazing location, the venue is right at the start of the most beautiful hikes.
Interior is dated, however the bedding is pristine clean and comfortable - all that's needed after long walks.

The pub and flats are 10 min walk from Edale station.
The flat is warm and cosy, with a good kitchen and comfortable bedrooms.
The food in the pub is excellent, and the farm cafe does amazing fried breakfasts.
We will definitely be returning.

We had a lovely stay over a very snowy weekend. Great location, near the station and lots of lovely walks. The cottage is cosy but clean. Thanks for having us!

The location was awesome. Great if you want to hike in the area but want to be away from some of the crowded areas of the Peak District. Loved that I could walk out of the door and be on a trail in a couple of minutes.
Somehow I think I was staying there through a transition of management and restaurant was closed and I never got wifi. The room had lots of space but was not very updated and I never got any soap or room attention. Great to have your own kitchen bc there was only one restaurant open in the town.

Beautiful location, friendly staff, very good food.
The cottage deserves more attention, housekeeping. Dirty dishes and cutlery in the cupboard, broken radiators and outdated carpets.

Wonderful location
Rude, surly, unwelcoming staff; Extreme mould on bathroom walls and in shower tray; Dirty tables in pub/restaurant strewn with used plates and glasses that weren't cleared for hours.

The staff we really helpful. The location is great for hiking just between Kinder Scout and Mam Tor, not to mention the train station is about 10mins walk away to go to either Manchester or Sheffield.
The cottage is actually a flat above the kitchen at the rear of the pub/property with the car park on the side and the pub garden behind/by the front entrance to the flat.
This means the flat can get very warm in the afternoon if the kitchen is busy and can get loud as well due to the kitchen /car park and pub garden.
Beyond that the property is in need of fresh decor there are a number of broken items in the property including a bin with no bucket so anything put in it just lands on the floor. There was also a lack of toiletries on arrival with neither loo roll or hand soap in the property.

straight out the cottage door to walk, enjoy a beer in the pub garden or eat a tasty meal in the pub. friendly staff. parking at the pub a bonus.

Location was good
Shop and cafe in the village very good
Food in pub was good
The young men were pleasant.
Being misled by false description of 'cottage' - the accommodation was up steep stairs to a poky flat and not a cottage. The description 'wonderful views' was not true, there was a glimpse of hill from one room and the rest overlooked car park and bin area.
The bedroom was so small you had to squeeze through a 6"gap to get out round the bed.
The shower was dangerous - the water scalding without notice
Rubbish from the previous tenant was in the bin and filthy wet cloth in the sink.

The location was fabulous. Being able to complete iconic walks from the front door.
the bathroom was very tired. The shower doors did not shut properly. there was mould and it needed a deep clean. The fridge needed a deep clean as it smelt of old fish!

Great location. Friendly owners in pub. Squirrel in loft dealt with same day.
Small bedroom uninhabitable. Bathroom dirty. Fridge dirty. Mould in bathroom. Draft through front door

we stayed in beautiful little cottage, kinder cottage which is a part of The Old Nags Head. The cottage had everything we needed, was in an idillic setting and the staff couldn’t do enough to make our stay comfortable.
we loved everything about our stay we just felt a small welcome package of local milk, cheese and eggs would of been a lovely added touch.

Nice quiet cottage. Had everything we needed and great location for walking.
Some things not cleaned to high standards ie cooker. Bathroom decor a little tired.

Fantastic stay and right in the heart of the peak district, we will definitely be returning for more walks during the Spring/Summer. Staff we incredibly helpful and the Nag's Head Pub itself had a warm friendly atmosphere that was perfect for a drink after a long walk.
There wasn't anything we didn't like in all honesty, the only thing we can think of is that the main door to the cottage we stayed in banged slightly during the night, bit of a harsh criticism though because it was blowing a gale force wind while we stayed...

The staff. Pub and food was the best ever. Can't wait till the nt time I go

Location was amazing, food in the pub was great. The heating in the flat was very warm! It could be a bit loud when warming up but as an old building that was expected. The flat was cozy and the kitchen had everything we needed.
The decor in the flat was not very modern but it didn't impact the comfort or cleanliness of it.
