B&B Osteria Del Vicario

We loved our stay here. It was absolutely beautiful, and Eric was fantastic about taking care of us and answering questions. The breakfast on the terrace was a highlight of our stay!

Peaceful, authentic, amazing location, subtly elegant. Amazing hosts. Unexpected delicious tasting menu, served and presented to a very high standard. We weren't expecting Vegan but it certainly exceeded our expectations and more!! Top chef, made and delivered with love !! Would definitely recommend

The wifi was excellent and rooms were clean. The lodging itself is full of old charm and the gardens in back are stunning. Certaldo is an exquisite destination and has not been transformed by tourism.

The stay at the Osteria Vicario B&B, unfortunately, was problematic. Having paid in advance for the lodgings (two rooms) I was surprised to be required to send not only pictured id but both sides of a credit card (as booking.com says that a credit card should not be sent). When reentering the lodgings after an afternoon walk there was no lighting in the hallway nor on the steep wooden staircase to arrive at the second floor. I finally was able to find an unplugged lamp in the lobby (with my iphone light) and when it came to going up the stairs I used my iphone light. More significantly when I went to shower in the morning there was absolutely no hot water (I let it run for 10 minutes, hoping it would arrive) nor was there any warm water and only droplets when I tried to get water from the sink for washing. I live in Italy and love everything old...and this lodging is very beautiful, but there are certain basic things that one should be able to expect when deciding to stay at an Air B&B. There were mugs in the bedroom but unfortunately no indication that there was actually tea bags and a water boiler in the common area ...where a guest could make tea. I would say there is a significant problem in the degree of "hosting" that is done...it is almost completely "hands off" unless one makes a reservation to partake of the breakfast. We had planned on dining at the Air B&B since it's an Osteria...but learned the day before arrival that the dining was only open Thursday - Sunday. I think the write up of the listing needs to be more specific. I would not recommend this lodging to those requiring an average level of hosting consideration when making a reservation. What i didn't like was the absence of some basic services (lights on, hot water, etc, explanatory information about details ..) that are not prioritized. In general, this is the first time in many, many years using booking.
