Acronafplia Pension A

The Acronafplia Pension A is located at the top of the city just below the Acronafplia Castle with views of the city and sea below. We loved that our room looked like one that would be found in a castle with its stone walls, decorations, and dramatic steps down to a lovely balcony overlooking the water below. The room was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. We had a fabulous breakfast every day with fresh tomatoes, cheeses, breads, Greek specialties, and fresh-squeezed orange juice. What a way to start our day! The staff (perhaps owners?) were very attentive and helpful, ensuring we had a comfortable stay. It is important to note that you will need to be able to walk (and carry your luggage) approximately 150 meters from the parking area near the castle in order to reach the hotel. You will also need to climb steps. If that is an issue, I'm not sure this hotel or, to be completely honest, the town of Nafplio itself is a good place to visit. To truly see and experience the charm of Nafplio, you need to walk up steps and hills- a lot of them. If you only stay in the marina area or ride around in a bus, you haven't seen Nafplio.

Finding the property was a bit of a challenge. Super helpful owner sent someone to guide us in.

This is our favorite room and stay in the world! The views of the town, bay, and mountains from the balcony were awesome. Our room was spacious, comfortable, and charming. Breakfast was good and the hosts welcoming and helpful. Finding the Acronafplia pension A is easy if you come from above. Drive up by the fort and park by the cluster of cars near the old abandoned hotel. Then walk down the gently descending side street that isn't apparent when in your car. There are nice swimming beaches (if somewhat stony) a short walk down from the parking area. We love this place and hope to return!

The view

Parking is a nightmare. We knew the hotel was high on the cliff but we did not realize it was only accessible by foot. You have the park about 7 mins away and drag your luggage up a rocky, extremely uneven surface path to get to the hotel. Once we arrived, the family greeted us, but that's about all. Hello and here is your room. The room was underwhelming g with only one plug to use. The shower was very slippery and extremely difficult and dare I say dangerous to get in and out of. We were only staying 1 night so we sucked it up, but if our stay would have been longer, we would forfeited or money and stayed somewhere else. Everything about it seemed difficult.
