"Mull of Kintyre Facelift", we shouldn't have gone in February expecting sunshine and a light breeze.

Lovely hotel, a huge improvement from the last time I stayed there about 30 years ago. Well placed for all the attractions in the town, especially the distilleries. The staff were really wonderful, they were able to provide us with a lot of information. The meals in the restaurant were very good.
There wasn't much that I didn't like, there was one evening meal that was pretty boring, no real taste to it at all.

The room was large and Bathroom too.
Bed was very large and comfortable.
Hotel well sited though being in the centre meant it was a bit noisy at times even in Campbeltown !
Staff were clearly harassed and short in numbers so a lot of bickering between them.
Service was slow even when Bar not that busy.
Breakfast was adequate at best though cooked options were all reasonable. Often run out of basics and continually asked for replacements.
Never had a towel change or bed linen change despite staying a week , toilet materials only replaced when asked for and don't think the room had a hoovering throughout our stay either.
Staying here not cheap but felt like it.

Room was nice with good views. Maybe a little tired
Could not get a reception on the tv for the whole 3 days. Reported to reception and was told everyone was complaining but it was just the weather. Please note the weather was fine with only occasional light drizzle. When I asked if that was the official view of the hotel she said she would contact maintenance. 2 hours later he arrived took one look at the tv from distance shrugged and said it was a matter for Sky and he could do nothing.

The Royal Hotel is in a great location by the harbour and across the road from the bus station. As Campbeltown isn't very big, you also find yourself close to all the shops and attractions, too. The staff were all lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast, served in the Harbourview Grille, was good. Incorporated in the hotel is the Black Sheep pub, which also serves food and has an outside seating area where you can look out over the harbour. My room, 26, was extremely spacious with an equally big ensuite bathroom. From the room, you get great views over the harbour, the palm tree lined Hall Street and the Campbeltown Cross.

The "classic" double room, which often means "small", was a good size. Very comfortable mattress and pillows. Strong water pressure in the shower. Very centrally located for walking around Campbeltown. And a warm welcome on arrival.
The wi-fi was mostly very good but more or less non-existent on our last day.

Stayed in room 32. Curtains hanging off the rail and when I opened the net curtains there was a few dead flies. The place badly needing decorated . Very tired. Attention to detail is needed.

The staff were friendly and very helpful. The room was spacious and well appointed, clean and comfortable. Great food in restaurant.
Having booked a package with Booking.com which clearly included B&B, the receptionist at check-in offered us morning Breakfast at additional cost. I had to prove B&B WAS included in our original package price.

Location was excellent for our trip.
Thought the restaurant was a little ordinary although to be fair the food was fine for the surroundings. It would not be fair to compare with fine dining experiences. So fine basically for our stay.

We received the most wonderfully warm welcome from Caroline, a bubbly and engaging lady.
Our room was large, double aspect with a sizeable bathroom and separate shower. The bed was comfortable (for some reason the duvet was very lumpy), decorated nicely and had everything we needed.
We ate in the restaurant on the first evening - a big mistake. The food was really poor and I would steer clear. We
were misadvised about the wine (but the waitress did replace this free of charge). After this awful experience at dinner, we decided to not even have breakfast here on the following two mornings. The restaurant really lets the hotel down.

Central location, and friendly service. The pub is very pleasant. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed.
Breakfast was better in the past. On this occasion it was disappointing.
