Rickety Bridge is a beautifully curated wine estate. Everything was modern and contemporary, while being comfortable and welcoming. The staff were all very welcoming, making every part of our stay a pleasure. I appreciated being offered a glass of water or wine as soon as I was seated for lunch and during check-in for our room. There were many personal touches: being given a tour of the manor house and grounds, being shown to our room, a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine on ice and a handwritten note to welcome us.
The food was exceptional. We booked lunch for our arrival and both ordered the special of the day - a delicious lamb curry with yellow rice and a poppodom, as well as a glass of Rickety Bridge merlot. This was a perfect winter's meal in the Cape Winelands and showcased their kitchen and food pairings. Breakfasts in the manor house were equally outstanding. No breakfast buffet but a thoughtfully designed breakfast menu. The shakshuka was divine!
The location of Rickety Bridge is so good, being just outside of Franschoek and along the R45 road. It was the perfect location for further wine tasting and for going on the wine tram. Would I stay here again - absolutely.
There is very little not to like. Across the main road is a more impoverished community with stray dogs that bark throughout the night. This is no fault of Rickety Bridge Estate however, if you're a light sleeper bring your ear plugs with you. The estate itself is safe and quiet, with the sound of frogs 'singing' in the night.

The newly renovated old Cape Dutch cottage that was perfect for a couple, comfortable and relaxed while being modern. Really enjoyed it. The location just outside of town was brilliant

- no acknowledgement of our honeymoon !
- minimal orientation/check-in process - we had no idea how to contact someone if had an issue
