Hassan and his family run a top notch property. The amount of food they provide was best I have ever had or seen. He is so well connected in town and will organize tours to suit you - I got to go meet the Nomad tribes and spend a night in a Nomad camp. When guests are not around all the local kids want to come to his place even.
There is nothing bad you could ever say as he is what makes dreams come true - it is a fantasy island in real life.

We had an amazing time in Merzouga. Our host Lahcen was super friendly and welcoming — he made us feel at home from the very first moment and took great care of us throughout our stay. The riad is really beautiful, very spacious, and had everything we needed. We even extended our stay for one more night and would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended!

This accommodation is one of the best! Really enjoyed our stay… Also lovely breakfast. The best we’ve had during out holidays. Really nice and friendly staff and owner… also for our kids. Thank you for arranging the amazing daytour (Ahmed is the best!) and desert tour.
The only downside was the we where not informed about really loud drums starting at 22:45 till 23:15 directly next to our chamber.. (we where traveling with young kids). Normally not the biggest issue but it was not pleasant because we had an intensive day before and also in front of us and the kids had to sleep

Maison Merzouga Guest House was one of the most memorable places we stayed in Morocco. The property itself is absolutely beautiful — it feels almost like a small palace in the desert. After arriving in Merzouga, which can feel quite dusty and rough around the edges, stepping inside the guesthouse felt like entering a peaceful oasis. The architecture and interiors are stunning: spacious rooms and common areas, beautiful carpets, ceramics, vases, decorative objects and traditional details everywhere. The inner courtyard garden, with its trees and shaded atmosphere, reminded us a little of Moorish-Andalusian architecture — places like the Alcázar in Seville or the Alhambra in Granada, but in a more intimate desert version. Everything was clean, atmospheric and full of character. The pool was also a huge plus. When temperatures are above 40°C, having a pool in the desert is not just a luxury — it completely changes the experience. It made the stay much more comfortable and relaxing. The owner, Hassan, was extremely hospitable, generous and professional — a businessman in the best sense of the word. He clearly knows how to create a high-quality guest experience, but he also has a very warm and human approach. He allowed us to stay much longer after check-out, take a shower after our excursions, and relax by the pool until we were ready to leave, even though official check-out was at 12:00. We eventually left around 16:30, which we really appreciated. At one point, when we were hungry, he even wanted to share his own lunch with us. This kind of hospitality felt genuine and very kind. Breakfast was very abundant and tasty. We were also very happy that we chose this guesthouse instead of a more mass-tourism desert camp experience. It gave us both comfort and access to the desert, without sacrificing rest, cleanliness or privacy.
We did two excursions arranged through the guesthouse. The first was a sunset camel ride into the dunes, followed by dinner in a tent in a more remote part of the desert, and then time to admire the stars at night. The camel ride took about an hour and the whole experience was very atmospheric and immersive. The second excursion, surprisingly, may have been even better. We went with Othman — whom we highly recommend and warmly greet! He speaks excellent English, is very knowledgeable, and was a fantastic guide. He took us to a seasonal lake with flamingos — of course, this depends on the time of year and rainfall — the black desert, an oasis, viewpoints, a nomad village where we had mint tea in a tent and spent time with goats and other animals, a quartz mine, a desert cemetery, fossil and ammonite sites, and even a camel caravan in the desert. The fossils and ammonites were incredible. We also had a very fun 4x4 ride over the dunes. Othman was engaged, kind, flexible, took many photos of us, and was ready to accommodate whatever we wanted to see or experience. He was not only a great guide, but also a genuinely lovely person. The excursions were not cheap — around 70–75 euros per person — but for us they were absolutely worth it. Without a guide, we would never have used our time in Merzouga so well, learned so much, or seen so many different places in such a short time. Overall, Maison Merzouga Guest House is a wonderful place: beautiful, comfortable, atmospheric and deeply memorable. It offers the perfect balance between desert adventure and genuine comfort. We are very glad we stayed there and would absolutely recommend it, especially to people who want an authentic but still comfortable experience in Merzouga. Rating: 10/10.
