Main reason for booking was to take my son to the Brits (BMX racing) and the hotel was listed as within 10mins drive. The experience started the day before. His practice session was moved forward an hour, so it was at check-in time. I emailed to ask if he could change there ahead of time. I also asked if we could store his bike to save leaving it in the car. And I hadn't booked breakfast either day as I didn't think we'd have time, but mentioned it. The reply was swift. I was told they would aim to give us a room if there was one ready and that it was likely. Yes we could store the bike. And that breakfast was at 6.30am so it was an option but we could decide when we arrived if that was going to be of use. All of which took the pressure off the drive. Traffic held us up, so we were later than I hoped and my son was keen to use the toilet. That was dealt with quickly and they sorted a room for us, on the ground floor, within 5mins. We did have to pay for parking. It wasn't expensive (less than £10 for our 2 days) but either I just missed it or it's not heavily noted that it is an extra fee. It was fine, but faffing with the app when we were in a hurry was a little stressful. But the staff were brilliant, friendly and really made everything clear and simple. When we got back I asked to put the bike in storage. This is where I can get a little nitpicky. It often felt like the reception could do with an extra person. There was someone in front of me and it took a solid 5mins to deal with him. Then when I asked about the bike, that wasn't an issue. I went to get it and the guy I'd spoken to wasn't there and the other person couldn't find the key. Again, these things happen, this is just a small point as to why it wasn't 5 stars. I was going to ask for a recommendation for somewhere to go for dinner, but it felt like they were in such a rush, I didn't want to bother them with more questions. Again, this is not a criticism of the staff, it's just an observation that maybe one extra person on shift would allow for a more seamless experience. Sticking with that issue, the next evening, after the race day, we returned and I was going to book breakfast for the Sunday, but there were so many people in the queue I left it. We went to shower and get dressed and when we came back out, there were fewer people, but still one being served and one waiting, so we left it again. When we returned from dinner, now it was available. And again, the actual service, when we got to it, was superb. My son had literally turned 12 the day before we arrived and that's the cut off for child prices, but they let him have it for the pre 12 price (I'm guessing that's the last kids price I'll ever pay for him). And we didn't need to book a time as we've had to in other places. So again, took the pressure off. As for the room - it wasn't the most spacious I've been in, but we mostly just needed somewhere to sleep and wash. The mirrors, towels etc all ideal. It was werid getting a key not a card (felt very mindful that I couldn't put it in my wallet but also if I lost it, it's a bigger deal). The bathroom was fine. The only complaint in there was the shower (over the bath) wasn't an even pressure so it was more like a hose than a shower. And the temperature valve was very stiff. But again, it did the job and didn't feel icky (as I have felt in other places). As for the beds, my son often has something negative to say in hotels, and I'm not a fan of having to use a single bed (I'm a big guy) and the first thing I noticed was only 1 pillow each. I looked around and no extra ones. But on testing, they were very good quality pillows. I could probably have done with a 2nd, but it was slight and not worth the effort to go ask for one (and if I'd got one, my son would have wanted one and it would have made a thing out of it). So it's on me for not asking, but I would say, it would make a massive difference to have spares in the room. But the bed firm

We had 2 rooms for one night as we were going to see a show at The Monastery, rooms were clean, one was lovely the other looked a bit tired but all we needed was somewhere to sleep as we were out most of the time so it was fine. Check in quick and easy and the guy on reception was nice. Only thing I have to mention was the floor boards above room 110 need sorting as I was awoken really early in the morning by someone uo above walking around and they did so for what felt like ages and the floor boards were extremely squeaky but apart from that it was all good. Paying for parking outside was slightly annoying but was only £4 for 24 hours so wouldnt put me off. I would stay here again.

Hotel room even it has double glazing the sound that was coming in all night was unacceptable. Bathroom very outdated and parking advertised as free bit was chargeable.

Dirty rundown and uncared for, not a nice location or premises, rip of car park charges, do your research to avoid disappointment.
