Anette Hotel

The hotel’s location was excellent — only a 5-minute walk from the Vltava River and very close to tram and bus lines, including direct connections to and from the airport. There were also small convenience stores nearby, which was very practical. Another advantage was that the hotel had an elevator, which occasionally broke down but was usually repaired by the evening. We had requested a quiet room and did receive one facing the inner courtyard, which we appreciated. The bathroom was spacious and there was hot water available at all times. The bed linens were extremely clean and the housekeeping staff did an excellent job: they came by daily to collect the trash, tidy the room, and replace towels whenever necessary. The breakfast was plentiful and fairly good, buffet style and the staff overall was kind and helpful. On the downside, the room had a noticeable musty smell and the windows as well as the surrounding buildings were quite dirty due to pigeons. The hotel would also benefit from some renovations, such as repainting, refreshing the furniture and curtains and replacing or cleaning the carpets more thoroughly.

I did not really like the old furniture, and the air in the room and throughout the hotel felt quite stale and musty. The elevator occasionally broke down, although it was usually repaired by the evening. I also could not really watch TV because all the channels were dubbed in Czech, but that is obviously not the hotel’s fault. Fortunately, there were a few music channels available.

Hotel is in a lively area in Prague centre, but away from the tourist traps

It’s a great value type of accommodation, perfect for a few days rather than an entire trip.

Despite the generous ceiling height (over 3m), the rooms were clearly renovated within the limitations of the old building, making it tough to fit in a decent bathroom. The room faced a busy road, and the constant noise of cars crossing tram tracks on a regular intervals was almost unbearable when the window was open.
