Home from home: fabulous spot to stay as a base to walk the north end of Derwent Valley Heritage Way

Lovely Derbyshire black pudding and other local foods. Cosy bar and reception area. Lovely welcome from all the staff. Central location for all the delights of Hathersage: wine bar, lido, David Mellor cutlery factory and cafe, walks on your doorstep - plus easy train access to Bamford for Ladybower and Derwent reservoirs, Grindleford for the Longshaw Estate, Sheffield and Manchester.

Hope Valley is pretty. I swim in the Lido is amazing in Autumn. Lovely hotel.

Bathroom below par. No bath mat to prevent slipping. No rail to hold to help out of the bath. No shelf for personal stuff like tooth brush, and potions and creams! Room 6 Jane.

Great location and breakfast, but let down by a few issues, really not worth the premium price we paid.

Location, breakfast and staff.

Room had no table to work on, WiFi was poor in room, no room service for 2 days, then forgot to replace towels. Room had HUGE lights on bedside tables making them unusable. Being ask to pay for stay and having to show my booking confirmation and bank transactions. Heard other customers complain about no sleep due to leaking showers which reception were aware off, noise from other rooms and barking dogs in other rooms.

Perfect Peak district base.

We had the suite, the room was stunning, beautifully decorated and layed out. The bar was a lovely setting after a long day's walking, dinner in restaurant was wonderful, breakfast was perfect. Parking was nice and easy. Walking on the doorstep, so many choices, staff were brilliant. Did not want to leave.

Ok but just a 'glampub' with no identity

Location.

B&B with Regimented breakfast, unlike many other B&B's/ Hotels, no buffet, no cereals or toast except at an additional price, no tea or coffee refills except at an additional price, not good value. As a resident, whilst enjoying a pint after eating, and whilst working on my laptop, i was asked (if i minded) to vacate my seat at my table in the snug/bar, to allow a walk in family of 4 to be able to sit with their dog for a drink and to eat because dogs not allowed in restaurant obviously. Ok walk in trade important but higher paying residents should not be put out for visiting walk in's.

The staff was super friendly. I was traveling with my 3-month old baby and they prepared a travel cot for us. The breakfast was super tasty, you can order from the menu directly

Very quaint hotel with lovely decor. Room lovely and very quiet, if a little small. Spotlessly clean and really comfortable bed. Great shower and lovely deep bath for a soak. The food we had was very nice. All of the staff were excellent and really helpful and friendly.

Full English and other full breakfasts available but no breakfast buffet so no cereals or fruit. The only fruit that was available was with a continental breakfast. Latte was an extra charge, only filter coffee included with breakfast. All in all, I felt the breakfast offering was a little penny pinching and could be improved.

Location is good, hotel is very clean and decor well maintained. Staff were pleasant and helpful apart from Manager who begrudgingly fixed the heated towel rail

We overlooked the staff car park, for the price of the room that was disappointing and no locks on the windows so worried about them being opened when we slept, but the general area felt safe.

A great small hotel in a delightful village in the beautiful Peaks. The staff were all very helpful professional and friendly. Food is excellent I’ve never had so many options on a menu for Gluten Free thank you so much appreciated. Food all beautifully presented and a great variety and a bonus of all being locally sourced. The bar area is really lovely decor very tasteful a cosy welcoming atmosphere. Our suite was splendid very comfy bed pillows could be improved on. The only downside is the road noise so not a good nights sleep enjoyed.
