Ilfracombe House Hotel - near Cliffs Pavilion

Bed was very comfortable. Room was clean. Breakfast was great. Staff were very friendly. Short walk to the theatre.

Our room was very hot & the fans provided weren't adequate at all. The public areas need sprucing up, as did our room. Furniture very old & needs updating. Bathroom also needs attention. The window in the bathroom had sticky film on it to prevent people from seeing in & that really needs replacing. No glasses provided in the bathroom. I think the price was a little steep considering the standard. One of the lights in the room didn't work. I didn't report this as it wasn't really an issue, but things like that really should be checked when the room is cleaned.

Good location, friendly welcome and good service. We had a luxury double en-suite, room 3 which had a good size TV although signal wasn’t great but that was ok because we were out most of the time. There was a comfortable settee and a fridge. It was a good size, great shower and mostly clean. Breakfast was included, good portion size. There’s was a selection of cereal offered as well as cooked full English with selection of eggs. Fruit juice was also on offer. I would definitely stay again.

I would have preferred to dish up myself instead of table service and fresh fruit would have been nice. Please clean the dan in the room as it’s very dusty 😁

The property was in a good location for the beach, pier and theatre . It was clean, comfortable and the staff were all very nice and friendly.

Nothing really. The car park is rather small, but there is ample parking in the road outside for which the staff will give you a permit. The room we were in was very hot because it was so hot outside and we were at the top of the hotel . That is not the fault of the property, but the small fan in there wasn’t overly helpful. We were very glad we brought our own hand held fans because we needed them all the time we were there - just to advise others that if there’s a heatwave, it would be advisable to bring an extra fan or two.

Very friendly staff. Good breakfast and service. Room pleasant at first glance. Fan provided. Room clean. Nice location and very quiet and peaceful. Free parking either in hotel carpark or in street after 9pm and before 11am.

Because the shower cubicle has the controls at the back, and the only shower head is overhead, it is impossible to reach through and set the pressure and temperature without getting a blast of cold water. Also nearly impossible to have a shower without getting hair wet. Inside shower cubicle, the top has come off the handle, leaving a sharp edge. Door to toilet area - handle broken. Dirty towel had been left on the back of the room door. I didn't actually notice it until the second night as I was just in and out before then. Two plastic glasses were propped on the pipes in the toilet area and just kept falling on the floor - not hygienic. Hairdryer had been stored with twisted cable and didn't work anyway - only the cold button worked, not the rest - I always carry a small, emergency one, so I used that. I think that for the price, it's not up to standard. Although the welcome and the breakfast were nice, I wouldn't stay again.
