Hotel & Spa Monasterio de Boltaña

Being situated in a former monastery is impressive and the interior decor was great. The rooms were spacious, well-maintained and clean. Wi-Fi was working throughout and there were plenty of parking spots. The restaurant’s food was great and not that expensive.

The spa was charged extra at €25 which only granted you a single hour - after 1hr you had to pay again. The spa was also very limited in facilities. The pool didn’t have enough sun beds for guests. I didn’t think the hotel was full, but the pool had only about 40 sun beds all occupied, which for a hotel this size is too low. Considering there isn’t much to do in the afternoon, the pool is the only option to relax, but without a sun bed you don’t have a place to leave your stuff.

Staff was only moderately helpful in suggesting hikes, room was generally clean, but showed some signs of wear.

Outdated bathroom which was not a 100% clean. The spa at €25/pp is overpriced as the facility is outdated and showing signs of wear. We got a price list for the mini fridge but the fridge was empty. The staff of the restaurant/bar was not very kind. The restaurant seating area feels like a canteen more than a “cosy place”, next to this the price/quality of the restaurant is horrible, you can’t sit outside, and the staff is uninterested in you as a customer. Overall the place looks amazing from the outside and at the reception, but as soon as you enter you realise it’s not the same all throughout. It’s been made too large and too busy to feel special and continue that feeling of the first impression.
