Excellent value for money with friendly service and great facilities

Excellent location within easy distance from the motorway. Clean and warm room, very cosy. Excellent quality of bedding and towels. Friendly staff. Excellent breakfast.

Super comfortable place to stay

I have been to the Alte Post many times before, and each time I love the comfort, the calm atmosphere (despite the proximity to the B3), the friendliness of the staff (both restaurant and breakfast) and I always look forward to coming back. Dog-friendliness and excellent meal in the restaurant.

There was no-one at reception when I arrived (15h15) and the WiFi was not stable (although it usually is).

Pleasant hotel pity for the room

The location of the hotel is good, the breakfast is very good with great selection. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Our room was a disappointment. When we arrived the room was very cold, heating was on but might have only been turned on that day. Therefore the mattress was freezing and it took some time to get warm. The main problem we had that it was next to the staircase/lift. Whenever someone was walking through the light would turn on. The curtain in our room did not wrap around the window so there was a large gap between the curtain and the window. When the outside light turned on the light would shine directly onto the bed and woke us up. We were unfortunate that during the night people were coming and going between 4am-6am, hence a disturbed night. I reported this to the hotel and advised them that a blind will be needed which was noted.

Great staff, and fantastic food but for us, this hotel was just too noisy.

Friendly staff, Good food.

The room was fine, although the bathroom was quite compact. The night was very hot and unfortunately no fan was available from reception, so we had to keep the doors open. As the room overlooked the restaurant garden, we could hear noise from both the garden and the busy main road, which made it difficult to sleep. A real shame, as the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent.

Living history

Genusshotel Alte Poste is an absolute gem. The historic inn where Goethe has once stopped..the building has been lovingly preserved, and every corner tells a story. Our one night stay was made truly special by the staff and especially by Noah, who took time to share the history of the place and guide us through the impressive cellar. This personal touch turned a beautiful stay into an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!

Fine for a one night lay-over but wish there would've been a portable fan!

11pm late check in was very smooth. Hotel was beautiful, staff friendly, breakfast wasn't excessive but perfect.

It’s typical in Germany, but we arrived to a room that was 30+ degrees celcius, with a family of three including a one year old. There was no wind outside, and due to a late arrival no-one at the check-in desk to ask for a fan. If would be great, that going forward, rooms come with one or more portable fans when its been exessively hot.

Short stay but sweet

Staying at the ‘Alte Post’ is a travel back in time but in an absolutely pleasant way. The staff were extremely helpful and attentive! We only stayed for one night on our way back to home but had a great night sleep and an amazing breakfast. The bed was very comfortable. Big plus was for us that the hotel is pet friendly! We had a very nice stay! Thank you!

Only one thing: the room was very warm at the beginning as it was a very warm day and we didn’t have air conditioning.

A lovely stay to start off our first family road trip to Italy - great food, room, wine and staff!

Location was not far from the highway on our way to Italy. Very clean and spacious rooms (we had two next to each other)! Friendly staff. Restaurant was excellent - great regional specialties, wine, good children's menu and the team was helpful. Breakfast was diverse and very good! We will be back on our next trip to the south.

If considering upgrades in the future perhaps airco. Not a must but if it was a bit hotter then airco would have been nice. Although this does not overshadow the rest of our one night stay which was a great start to our summer holiday!

Pleasant

The hotel is charming and the staff was nice! The breakfast and dinner at the restaurant was nice. The terrace and garden are beautiful.

The room didn't look like in the photos, it was outdated. The bed was not comfortable and made a lot of noise when moving. There was no fan or AC to use and the bed was not made for summer nights, it was really warm (mid-August). The bathroom didn't have a proper ventilation and the light was really low. In the photos it looked more comfortable than what it actually was. The place was nice but this things made us feel disappointed.

Lovely hotel with friendly staff and the possibility to charge your EV!

Very nice and clean room. Staff was friendly and helpful. We also liked that there was enough parking space and the ability to charge our EV. We will definitely stay here next time we are on passthrough to Italy.

- The restaurant can be a bit noisy in the summer because the terrace is outside and you have a room facing the terrace but after 22:00 it slowly becomes more quiet. - it was very hot weather during that period and although we knew it wasn’t there, we did miss an airco in hindsight.

Rooms were a good size, bathroom was compact but had everything we needed. Our room overlooked the outdoor space of the restaurant but mostly the green trees. It was located in the extra building that had an elevator.

No air-conditioning which made it a little warm in summer.

We got an upgrade and had the "deluxe" room ... I thought the room is an error but no it was not ...! "Seating area" was a chair in a dark corner, the bathroom/shower small where you could not turn around. But the worst was the light in front of the room going on and off the whole night, the room did not have anything to darken the room. And all that for 126 euros!!

Overrated price for room and tiny bathroom

Excellent staff and pleasant dinner with professional service, although had to remind them that red wine with a temperature of 30 degrees should be stored in a cool location instead of outside on a table. For EUR 130 per night the rooms are rather small and in bathroom - with a plastic curtain??? - no space at all. Luckily upon request they placed a table ventilator for our room - right under the roof - with a temperature around 30/35 degrees. So dinner etc OK but room a deception

As mentioned friendly and helpful staff and a good kitchen with a good menu.
