Fujairah Rotana Resort & Spa - Al Aqah Beach

The main building, breakfast, Waves restaurant was all nicely decorated. Nothing looked dated out in need of a touch-up. The vibe is great; the area is large enough to feel large but not too large.

I think the pool seems a bit shallow but this might be intentional. The seawater was nicely refreshing though it would be nice if the area marked for swimming could be a little larger. It gets crowded quickly. I would have preferred to have hashbrowns instead of potatoes. The pancakes and waffles were a little dry, so we helped ourselves to enough chocolate sauce to compensate.

Location is really beautiful and view was stunning from my room. Big thanks to Rotana resorts and spa and special thanks to Mr Said and Mr Hamdi in the reception they handled all my inquiries and matters very professionally and in understanding manner. They were very polite and made my family enjoy their stay. Many thanks also Ms Xiebel from the restaurant she was very friendly and always provided us service with a smile on her face. I will definitely come back very soon.

Reception staff was very friendly and picked the best possible view for the room and fulfilled special requests. Waiter staff was really helpful (especially Wah Wah), albeit a bit understaffed for visitors/waiters ratio. Basketball court, sandy beach.

We had much much higher expectations from a "5-star" hotel, this one was barely a 4-star. First of all, it's not "all"-inclusive - the included menu is very limited, mostly not-so-healthy, not tasty, and lower quality to our liking. Even for non-drinks stuff, had to pay additionally here and there, although it claims to be "all"-inlcusive. E.g. lunch stops at 3PM and checking in starts only at 3PM - one can use limited credits at Sharkeys but only once, either at checking-in day or checking-out day. For "exclusive" menu, the AED 25 coconuts at Sharkeys were rotten, even when "fresh" changed to packaged, there was still mold and we couldn't even drink a sip. Food in the main Mosaique restaurant is overall average for a 5-star hotel, you can feel most food is done for economy like watery non-tasty soups. Room was quite old and you can see how time battered it, and stuff like horrible smell in the shower just shows poor maintenance standard. We could probably go on with many other small details (like again having a basketball court being free before sunset, but when you need it the most in the evening after heat, you pay AED 30 per hour with your "all"-inclusive package), but all those stuff just accumulated from the beginning into a not-so-relaxing atmosphere and definitely not a 5-star experience. Also, maybe it's not the hotel itself but also the overall Fujairah resort area being overpriced, but the value-to-cost ratio is very low. We would have accepted the cheapness and honest 3-4 star hotel positioning for a jam-packaged popular place as it actually is much more if the price wouldn't have been this ridiculously high and expectations set for a "5-star" experience.
