Excellent host, close to the Pvlitice National Park, clean and well maintained.

Beds were not super comfortable but they were ok.

Villa Mukinja exceeded our expectations. We booked the three-person option and were allocated a quadruple room with a balcony. Tihomir is an exceptional host who provided very useful information before our arrival, including the advice to ask our driver to drop us in Mukinje rather than at Plitvice Jezera. He was also the chef at breakfast and the maitre d’ at dinner, which added to the wonderfully personal feel of the place. Breakfast is €15 per person and offers a good choice, including optional cooked eggs. Dinner was a wonderful experience. The €35 set menu included an entrée of meats and local cheese, soup, a choice of four mains and two desserts. With only six rooms, dinner felt very intimate, with just three other groups joining us. The villa also offers a spa and sauna, although we didn’t choose to use them. The village is within a 20-minute walk of Entrance 2 to Plitvice Lakes National Park. The park is simply stunning, and staying at Villa Mukinja really enhanced our visit. We stayed for two nights so we could enter the park as early as possible and then relax afterwards, following a full day in the park, rather than having to think about getting back on a bus. We took the bus to the Upper Lakes at 8.15 am and followed Route H. One tip: follow the sightseeing route early in the trail, as it’s well worth the effort. I’d highly recommend staying at Villa Mukinja. Thank you to Tihomir and his team for making our stay such an enjoyable and memorable part of our time at Plitvice.
