We woke up every morning to nothing but mist rising off the water, the soft call of birds, and our own private lotus pond stretching out in front of us. Yes, a PRIVATE lotus pond. In peak season it blooms into a pink carpet that you can watch for hours from the deck with your kahwa. I have never experienced such stillness in Srinagar. No honking shikaras, no hawkers - just you, the lake, the mountains, and the sky mirrored in water. The houseboat itself is stunning. Traditional Kashmiri woodwork, intricate papier-mâché ceilings, warm walnut wood floors, but with every modern comfort you could need. And it is centrally heated - which is a blessing. Even on chilly autumn nights, the rooms were cosy and warm, the blankets soft, the hot water always running. It feels luxurious without ever losing its soul. And then, there is Sajjad. Sajjad is not just a host or a cook, he is the reason you will want to come back. Every meal was a feast made with so much love. From authentic Kashmiri Wazwan - the Rogan Josh, the Dum Aloo, the Nadru Yakhni that just melted in the mouth - to the most comforting Rajma Chawal and pakoras on a rainy afternoon. Everything is made fresh, on the houseboat itself, with ingredients picked that morning. He even taught us how to make the perfect noon chai. You don't just eat his food, you remember it. Sajjad and his family take care of you like their own. They arranged our shikara rides through the hidden canals, took us to the floating vegetable market at 5 am, and always knew when we wanted chai and when we wanted to be left alone with the lake.

Staying on this houseboat was an absolute dream and the highlight of our trip to Kashmir. The intricately carved wooden interiors, centrally heated, the gentle rocking of the lake, and the stunning mountain views from the deck were magical. Extraordinary experience! We stayed here and felt incredibly welcomed by the owner, Mr. Shaikh Abdul Ahmed of the houseboat. The houseboat was pristine, spacious, and packed with traditional Kashmiri charm. Mr. Sajjad, the staff, went above and beyond to make us comfortable, serving delicious home-cooked meals on the deck. A perfect blend of comfort and nature—highly recommended!

What truly blew my mind was the comfort: the boat is surprisingly centrally heated, making chilly evenings cozy and luxurious, and it also has AC for warmer days, which is such a thoughtful touch and honestly unexpected on a houseboat. And then there’s the food—Sajjad’s cooking deserves its own standing ovation. Every meal was bursting with freshness, rich aroma, and authentic flavor, clearly made with love and care. You can literally smell how fresh the ingredients are before the plate even reaches the table. From comfort dishes to local specialties, everything tasted incredible and memorable. This isn’t just a place to stay—it’s an experience. Peaceful, comfortable, and deeply soulful. It was a little houseboat with a great view and amazing staff. The Shikara was very useful and the owner and his family were very nice!

It was a little hot and I found the breakfast pricy for the little food they served.
