Kielder Cottage Spa - E3533

This was a fabulous chill weekend, the cottage had everything we needed. Although a little tucked away, it was close to Kielder Castle and the local pub (a short drive or long walk). Location was ideal for us as we had booked to go to the Sky Observatory, which was only 10 minutes by car (well worth a visit - even if it is cloudy- booking essential). We enjoyed exploring the area on the Saturday, which was a lovely day - but the Sunday was a bit wet, so we had a lovely chilled out day, playing DVD's, enjoying the hot tub, watching catch up TV, playing games and eating the lovely battenberg our host left us. All in all a fabulous long weekend.

Beautiful location - great for walking/cycling. Good sized living/dining space. Lovely cake waiting on arrival. Great hot-tub with beer fridge close by. Clear skies for stargazing. Good food in Anglers Arms at bottom of the track.

Lack of clothes hanging space - one rail and six coat hangers was not enough for four people. Mirrors not situated close to electric sockets so couldn't see when using hairdryer etc . Shower in en-suite was very small, needs a shower over the bath too. Various light bulbs didn't work or shades missing. Could do with more mugs, tumblers and teaspoons and surfaces coming off cooking pans so need replacing. Both double bedrooms felt slightly damp despite recent hot weather . No freezer as stated in description. Needs a midge zapper near hot-tub. Van parked directly outside main bedroom window so not private and sometimes noisy. Many old photos on-line, bathrooms are now very dark and some furniture/decor has changed. Needs some general tlc and attention to detail. Just niggly things and it would be a 10/10.
