Guesthouse Lusa Atenas

It is a basic old guesthouse with nice owners.

Unfortunately water leaks onto the floor when you use the shower.

It is a well maintained older building & the older features were special.( ornate plaster ceilings, window shutters, beautiful timber floors & fittings). While it’s older features are attractive it has comfortable beds & well fitted out bathroom suitable for 21st Century use. It also has numerous power outlets suitable for charging phones & devices. There is good reliable wifi in the rooms. It is handy to transport & good restaurants & bars while a short distance from important historical parts of the city. The staff are wonderful.( reception, housekeeping, night staff)

A glass please to drink water & bathroom use! My room was near the staircase so I heard early departures & movement on the stairs.

We liked the renaissance-y ceiling always guarding our skulls while we were being sleepy heads. The host was very amicable and welcoming, we really have no complaints about them. The location was also great, everything was very nearby, for example the river, bus station, grocery store, square of the republic, universities, etcetera etcetera! Therefore it was great but not exquisite and you will hear more about this later.

We weren’t very fond of the noisy road right by our stay. The windows are old, though functional but they are far from sound proof, therefore we heard every vehicle that drove by. Sleeping through these two noisy nights, was very unpleasant. The road was busy until late at night, in addition to this, portuguese people often drive frenetically with loud cars. One last thing, the bed was very short even for someone with 170cm of height.
