We just finished 2 weeks in Sardinia, during which we stayed in a variety of lodging facilities, from humble pensiones to 5-star palaces. All were enjoyable until we ended up in Antica Dimora del Gruccione. It’s in a small town in the mountains, which is beautiful like all of Sardinia. Our designated parking place was on a sidewalk, from which we walked down a couple of flights of stone steps to the Dimora. Our room was on the 3rd floor, with another set of stairs to the loft bedroom. When the toilet wouldn’t flush, we asked to change rooms. There was one left on a lower floor. It was so damp and musty you could feel the moisture coming up into your back lying on the bed. A/C worked only on and off, which ended up not being too bad after a late afternoon thunderstorm cooled things down. The TV remote had dead batteries, which we did manage to get replaced. The door from the main building wouldn’t unlock for quite awhile, and we thought we were trapped inside. Only after we finally got out, the staff member showed us a better way to open it. He seemed surprised by all these issues. Glad it was only one night.
