Nice room overlooking the bay, bright and full of light with a nice balcony to sit down and take in a beautiful vista including the neighbouring islands of Delos and Mykonos from afar. Tranquil surroundings which make for a good environment to chill out or spend a few lazy, contemplative days. The place is immaculate and thoroughly cleaned by the hard-working staff everyday. The beds are also incredibly comfortable and the shower very good and powerful. The host (Marina) was helpful when I arrived and gave me a map with some useful recommendations on places to visit. OK place for a family with their own transport, less so for a solo traveller looking for a more sociable vibe or individuals without a vehicle.

The location is very remote and Agios Ioannis Porto itself is nothing but a tourist resort with very little character, a conglomerate of hotels and holiday accommodation - it is by no means a village, i.e. it has no urban structure nor local shops or cafes nearby - the only exception being a minimarket roughly 15 minutes' walk away, predictably charging tourist prices, and a couple of beach bars that tend to be empty in the evening. Similarly, most restaurants in the vicinity are part of said hotel complexes rather than authentic tavernas. So if you're after something with a local feel (as I normally am), I would stay instead in one of the typical villages the island has aplenty or in the Chora, as walking around here involves taking your chances down a rather dark road with vehicles whizzing past you. If on the other hand you have a car and all you care about is being in close proximity of a nice beach while also not too far from the main town, then the place will do; however, be aware that the beach is often really windy, so it may not be viable to those looking for a sheltered one. By car the Chora is about 10 minutes' drive. No breakfast is included, which again, in the absence of local shops, is a bit of an inconvenience. It would be a nice touch to include at least some basic refreshments such as tea and coffee and / or simple snacks, which instead you will have to buy (and consequently waste upon leaving) if you're staying for just a handful of days. It would also be useful to include a hairdryer as part of the room equipment.
