Good base to catch morning ferry to Gryllefjord

New / refurbished hotel (or rather motel), 10 min walk to ferry with luggage. Small but functional single room, a bit dark, but with TV, kettle, comfy bed and small table and chair. Hotel sent check-in instructions in advance hence I stopped at Thon hotel for check-in on the way - no issue with that. Offloaded my bag to my room, drove to the pier and parked my car in a queue for the ferry - all worked well and the receptionist at Thon (very nice lady) told me everyone is doing the same. The hotel was very quiet at night. Whale watching office is 2 min walk, Arresten (best restaurant in Andenes) is 3 min walk. Also, they told from the beginning that there is no need to walk to Thon for check-out in the morning - just leave the key in the room and call the reception to let them know you left - you can do it from the ferry. You need to be at your car in the morning at least 20-25 min before ferry departure time as they start check-in and boarding.

There is a bit of walk to Thon for breakfast hence doesn't make sense in the morning if you want to catch first ferry - bring food with you / shop on the way or buy something on ferry. There is restaurant on site but it's closed, and generally facilities are very limited - this is a place to sleep. The hotel consists of 3 long 2-floor buildings with rooms, not individual houses, and the view is not that nice despite being on the water.

Great stay at Andenes

Anika at the reception was wonderful checking us in. She was very friendly and helpful and went over and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Location was great and within a 10 minute walk to the ferry, so we could park overnight in the queue for guaranteed early morning departure during peak season.

The only issue was that our room had a large skylight with no black out curtain mechanisms. So it was bright all the time at night in July, making it difficult to sleep well.

Scenic by the sea

The location was good. The size was comfortable for 4 people and it was well equipped.

We missed having a common washing machine facility close by. We had to go to the bleik campsite for our laundry.

Location of reception in another hotel Since We were travelling by public transport, imagine travelling that additional distance of half or more km with luggage with snowfall... It made no sense. If it was difficult to manage, the hotel should have a key box kind of set-up. Also if one wants to add breakfast, that too was in the displaced location.

Wonderful.

Lovely location, short walk from the lighthouse and amenities such as clothing shops and places to eat.

Check in was somewhere else, at another hotel - it was absolutely not clear and somewhat hidden in the check-in mail, in this mail attention should be drawn to the fact that this property has no check-in at their premises. The room was miniscule, also it was hot because the window opened only slightly, so I would not stay there again

Overall, whilst high quality stylish fixtures and fittings, customer service sadly lacking.

Location very good, although when restaurant/bar open could prove to be very noisy. Very stylishly fitted out, obviously newly decorated including new modern appliances.

Accommodation was too small for comfortable self catering. No dining table, just two small occasional tables. Overpowering smell of new paint exacerbated by lack of airflow through limited opening windows. There was no Wi-Fi available at all over two day stay. Reception staff reluctant to rectify this despite phone call and personal follow up visit (not on site), stating that the Thon hotel guests were the priority not the Rorbu. Lack of staff at the weekend was cited as being a contributory factor, but surely weekends are prime time for visitors? New batteries were supplied for the tv remote which was not operational, again necessitating a visit to the reception at the Thon hotel. Workmen started at 0730 on Monday, continuing with the refit.

Avoid!

Close to the whale safaris but that's about it.

Crazy expensive for such a dismal place. There's no staff, no reception, no breakfast, you have to walk quite a lot to find that in another hotel. Property does not reply to messages. We had a problem, and at the reception desk of the other hotel we were told: "That's the problem with booking with Booking.com, we can't do anything about it, you'll have to contact them." This made us feel like second class guests, and it isn't very flattering for Booking.com either.

At the edge of the world

A comfy stay at what felt like the edge of the world. And finally a shower with a frame where water does not splash all over the bathroom! There are restaurants, grocery stores, a kids park and even clothes shops all within walking distance, I was impressed.

Our noisy neighbour burping and making yucky noises non-stop. The rooms aren't soundproof at all... Tip - a little broom and dustpan would be great to have in the room.

only the breakfast in complete other hotel (1 Kilometer away from the booked one) was quite good. The rest, forget it

This hotel is not to recommend only if you strand at the harbor and have to wait for the ferry on the next morning. The room is so little that you have no place for a suitcase. The refigerator (a minibar model) stand on the floor so that you have to go down on your knees to open it. Oh yes, there was an electric kettle but only one plug socketin the entire room close to your bed but 2,5 meters away from a table. And the door opener (a magnetic key card) act so slowly (you have to wait until 3 seconds before it opne the door) and the first one was not programmed so travel 1 Kilometer back to the Thon Hotel to get a new one. This hotel is an absolute catastophe and on a standard compare to the 60ties. Maybe that the management take the chance to attend a training on an Austrian hotel school to learn professional skills
