Hotel Terme Marine Leopoldo II TERME & SPA

Lovely hotel with a large swimming pool, shaded large parking on the back in a "pineta" and 50 meters from the beach. Great location for exploring Maremma and northern Lazio, with Grosseto city center only 20 minutes away by car. Wonderful staff and clean rooms. The room was not overly big but ok size for for summer, when you aren't much in the room anyways. Cleaning is daily and good. Breakfast is varied and good - it only lasts to 10:00 though. The pool has plenty of chairs and you have no problem finidng places. You have the big Tuscan cities within a couple hours drive and many smaller and less known places even nearer. There is a small gym with weights and a few machines - it gets very hot but there's free water and towels available. The waterfront beaches are - as usual in Italy - a mix of expensive licensed baths and free beaches. The slope is very gentle so perfect for small children.

The only negative are the light fixtures, especially in the bathroom there is no courtesy light. And the TV was dated and not "smart" so you cannot connect your phone with Netflix, Prime etc if you have kids and want entertrainment. Sometimes there are too few tables in buys hours days but the personnel cleans up quickly and efficiently.

Loved that it’s close to the beach. We’ve arrived 30 minutes before the check in time and they gave us a better room - that’s was nice. View from the balcony to the trees was very nice.

The breakfast had products of not the best quality, we haven’t really enjoyed anything, just yogurt (nice that had a vegan one) and granola , the coffee I couldn’t even drink - but tarts just for my taste. Didn’t like the fact that there was a list of things you have to pay extra for, which getting on the check in felt like the place isn’t guests oriented, but making extra money oriented. To have 2 extra hours in the room costs 50% of the day rate - as someone who worked in hospitality I didn’t like receiving that on the check in list. In my opinion it should be personalized. Spa area was nice. In the morning house keeping started to clean the rooms and you could hear them screaming to each other inside the room - it felt like a luck of respect to guests.

In a room near us, the people had a dog, which was barking very early every morning. We think it was being left in the room whilst the owners went for breakfast. It completely eliminated the possibility of us being able to sleep on undisturbed.
