Old (wine?) cellar in Riomaggiore

To have a semi affordable room in Riomaggiore in July was great. It is in an old cellar built into the mountain, but nice and dry. The Internet and reception in the room on phones are rubbish so your work cannot call you on your holiday (yay). It is really dark in there (a skylight by the door only) so we slept really well. Full kitchen.

It is in the steep bit of Riomaggiore so you better be prepared to walk steps. But that is Riomaggiore in a nutshell.

Incredible location, delicious food and friendly people. Allowed us to leave our luggage at the desk after check out. The coupons to local restaurants were greatly appreciated!

The village is absolutely stunning. The apartments were OK but the location was CLUTCH!!

Good location (easy in such a tiny village)

Photos apepar to have a balcony, the apartment did not. We were very upset about this and felt cheated. There were slats missing on the bed which meant the mattress sagged and made my back hurt.

Not good stay at apartment.

The apt location was at the center.

Its at elevated location, need to claim stair considerable steps. No internet. Kitchen stove was horible. It just generated heat. To boil the water for making tea, we had to spend more than 30min. When asked host, they said this apt is not for cooking. Not value for money. Taking so much on stay, atleast they should have provided good stove. No toaster, no kettle. It is just like hotel room without any amenities.. refrigerator was there. Very old property.

Cave in Riomaggiore

It's passable if you just need a cheap plane to stay the night in Riomaggiore; It was renovated recently, other than the kitchenette, the beds, shower, etc worked great; The host was really nice; Although we didn't use, you can leave the luggage in the reception.

Just like you see in the photos, it's in a cave without windows; Contrary to what's stated in the description, the kitchen was not prepared to work, see attached photo.
