Timothy Homestay Hue

This place will exceed your expectations, I promise. Best welcome ever: hot tea and cut-up mango and snacks literally as soon as I stepped over the threshold. Best wow-factor in terms of the building and decor: I normally go for more rustic, family-run homestays but the photos online intrigued me. It's like a fantasy castle, and I felt like a princess - not least because of the amazing care provded by Ngoc and Ky. And best non-touristy neighbourhood in a large city. In the mornings, I stretched in the sunshine on the top level of the homestay and then would go for a walk around the streets before it got too hot. It is a little further out from the 'city centre', but Hue doesn't have a centre or Old Quarter in the way other cities do. The things you will go see (Citadel, mausoleums, etc) are spread out anyway. Loved how friendly people were and eager to engage. There's also a really interesting market close-by. (My 'city' photos are just in the neighbourhood, as you can find shots of Hue monuments etc elsewhere online). The rooms are beautifully appointed and everything is spotless, with hotel-level tidying every day. There are kitchen facilities you could use if you wanted to - but the local food is so good, why would you! The views from the rooftop are stunning; you can see the bend of the river and across into the city. A beautiful Catholic church is two doors down; and I could hear singing from the nearby convent when out walking. Ky was super helpful in his communications, also helping out with transport and with recommendations (I did the only group tour of my month in Vietnam in Hue because of the historic sites being so numerous and spread out; plus I knew I'd learn a lot more history if I went with a guide). Ngoc made the best breakfasts and had excellent recommendations for local street food and ideas for activities; I really enjoyed our interesting conversations through Google Translate.

I loved everything about my stay; would love to return one day. Big thank you for making it so memorable.

The property is very clean and maintain each floor has its own theme I was on the 80s very retro reminded me when I was a child.

Everything was good.

Staying here felt like staying with family. From the moment we made contact on whatsapp to our arrival. We were given fresh fruit and a drink upon our arrival which was greatly appreciated. The hosts went above and beyond to make us welcome. They recommend things to see and places to eat. Our bags were even taken to our room. The house is absolutely stunning and we enjoyed the beautiful decor and the view from the balcony. We were able to rent a moped directly from the hosts which made getting around town easier, otherwise its a short 15 minute grab. The room was spotless and well lit and had a kettle and mini fridge. Breakfast was great - Egg banh mi, fresh fruit with coffee. We had to be up for an early train at 3:30 am and the hosts were so accommodating, even getting up to open the doors and gate so we could leave. We were given a coffee to take for the journey and were even helped with our bags to the taxi.

Our only negative was the bed was uncomfortable as the mattress is thin and firm. But this didnt affect our stay too much.
