Hoàng Nguyên Homestay Ba Be

L'accoglienza della famiglia soprattutto di Binh è stata eccezionale e nonostante la difficoltà della lingua con l'aiuto del traduttore ci ha organizzato un bellissimo giro in barca sul lago e si è reso disponibile a prenotarci il minivan per tornare ad Hanoi e risolvere i problemi inerenti al prelievo di contanti (purtroppo a Ba Bè nessuno prende la carta di credito quindi organizzatevi in anticipo!)

Good value homestay in a scenic location. The view from outside our room on the third floor was lovely, and the room itself was clean and comfortable. A bed net was provided which was nice to have, as there were quite a lot of insects around! The owner didn't speak much English but we had no problem communicating with him with a translation app, and he was very kind and helpful. He let us sit in the restaurant area to wait for our bus after we checked out. The food was delicious and plentiful, definitely recommend! If you have dietary requirements it's probably best to enquire before you arrive, as there was no vegetarian food available one night of our stay. However the restaurant across the road had lots of good options, so this wasn't a problem. The bed was comfortable too, which can't always be expected in Vietnam.

The listing mentions a laundry service but we were pointed to a tap and a basin to wash clothes by hand - fine but not exactly what we expected! It would have been nice if there was a more prominent price list for extras like food, as we had to ask to find out how much the dinner and breakfast was. The following aren't the fault of this homestay but are worth bearing in mind: The homestay next door had loud music playing both nights of our stay. It finished by about 10:30pm, but it was quite annoying. The area is scenic but it definitely felt like off-season when we were there in March. We wanted to hire kayaks to paddle on the lake, but we couldn’t find any kayaks for hire. It probably would have been possible if we had booked ahead, so be warned if you are going off-peak!
