Le Domaine de Courances - Pierres d'Histoire

Nous avons réservé une chambre à la Maitairie, mais, suite à un problème, nous avons été logés dans l’une des petites maisons du domaine. La maison était très mignonne, avec beaucoup d’espace et énormément de charme, notamment grâce à sa proximité avec le moulin. Le cadre est également très beau, avec le jardin japonais juste à côté. Nous avons aussi apprécié le petit-déjeuner, qui était servi dans le café du domaine, à partir de 9h le week-end et à 15€/personne (service à table, il ne s’agit pas d’un buffet).

Cependant, après avoir vu la chambre initialement réservée, nous avons été très déçus, car elle nous a semblé vraiment trop chère pour le prix payé. La chambre était très petite, il n’y avait ni bouilloire, ni café, ni thé, et il n’y a pas de service de réception. De plus, elle donnait sur un petit chemin de passage, ce qui n’était pas très agréable lorsque l’on ouvrait les fenêtres car l’intérieur était exposé, et l’on se sentait vite à l’étroit à l’intérieur. Pour une prochaine fois, nous préférerions mettre un peu plus d’argent et loger dans les petites maisons. Sinon, pour le prix des chambres doubles, nous choisirions sûrement un autre endroit offrant un meilleur rapport qualité-prix.

We rented Le Moulin, which is one of several accommodations grouped around a square in a corner of the garden of Courances. There is an enclosed parking that is shared by the compound. Le Moulin is absolutely gorgeous, with a large living room with fireplace and access to a shared garden, a well equipped kitchen overlooking the old watermill and the Japanese garden, a bedroom under the kitchen (which we didn't use), and a large bedroom under the roof. You have access to a corner of the castle garden, including the wonderful Japanese garden. The Café de Courances faces Le Moulin, and is accessible from the domain (as well as from outside). It offers breakfast (also takeaway) and a range of food and drinks. The château and stunning gardens are accessible on appointed days, advertised on the website and in the Café. Communication was fast and easy. Fontainebleau is a short drive away, as are several RER stops.

Note that the Le Moulin faces the café across the courtyard and the entrance from the parking to the compound. There is no noise from the café, and when we were there it was all very quiet, and there are curtains to shield the interior. Imagine a charming courtyard on the entrance side (with the large glass door), not a secluded house. We had a problem with the heating, response was fast but it took a day to get it solved.
