Villa Sunrise

Wunderschönes Haus mit eigenem Strandzugang,Gemeinschaftsküche mit grossem Kühlschrank,Trinkwasserspender und toller Terrasse.Haben vermutlich nie schöner gewohnt als hier! Die Villa ist an einem ruhigeren Teil vom Strand,aber Restaurants und Läden sind in laufweite.Baden geht direkt am Haus nicht, aber einige Hundert Meter weiter. Taru,der sehr angenehme,hilfsbereite und fleißige Angestellte hält Haus und Garten in Schuss, hat uns einen Roller vermittelt,und war für Fragen immer ansprechbar. Haben unseren Aufenthalt verlängert,weil es so schön war,und wären dann gerne noch länger geblieben,aber leider war die Villa schon gebucht. Es sind insgesamt 3 Zimmer,die vermietet werden:2 im oberen Stock mit eigenem Bad im Zimmer und 1 im Erdgeschoss mit eigenem Bad über den Gang.Wir hatten sehr nette 'Mitbewohner',was den Aufenthalt noch besser gemacht hat.

Es gibt keine Fenster, (nur Läden)was für angenehme Temperaturen sorgt und man hört das Meer zum Einschlafen. Allerdings wären Mückengitter für mich ein Plus.Es gab zwar nicht viele Insekten im Zimmer(ausser Moskitos im Bad),und es gibt ein tolles Moskitonetz über dem Bett,aber fürs Gefühl ;-)

The house is beautiful, full stop. The room on the ground floor is enormous. Having sand and sunbeds in the private garden is very nice.

The bathroom was across the corridor from the room, it was not clear to me at booking. My pillow didn't smell fresh. The host was, let's say, very relaxed. He is not a bad fella, but repeatedly invited us to party together, which we (2 females) repeatedly declined. He made us two arrangements for transport both of which did not run entirely smoothly

We (couple + 11 month old baby) loved our stay at Villa Sunrise. It has a lovely garden, it was exceptionally clean, well designed and nicely built. Great value for money (especially since we were alone and had the whole place for ourselves). There is a small spotlessly clean kitchen you can use that has everything you can possibly need (there are for example three different ways to make coffee), including fridge, freezer and even a big container for mineral water. It’s not far from the main “tourist strip” where you can find many restaurants and a small grocery store, but you can also eat at two restaurants 50 metres further along on the beach. Many electricity sockets conveniently spread around the house. Wifi more reliable than any other place we’ve stayed in Sri Lanka so far. For our baby, this was paradise. He could play in the sand at the end of the property, and was free to roam around the terrace without the risk of falling down due to the sturdy railing. He learned how to use the stairs here, and loved looking at exotic birds, dogs, as well as the occasional lizard, monkey and squirrel visiting. The staff was friendly, helpful and very mindful of our privacy.

- No hot water - Guests have obviously been feeding the dogs (2) from the table. While they are extremely well behaved, it can get tiring having to chase them away when trying to eat (our baby LOVED them and would go crazy trying to grab them)

If you want a stunning, calm place where you can enjoy the wonderful Tangalle beach in your own pace and time Villa Sunrise is your place. We had four wonderful days there enjoying the sea view from the upstairs terrace plus the beautiful garden and the beach. They don't offer breakfast etc but a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own food. Moreover, there are just enough good restaurants nearby ("Little pumpkin Cabanas" just next door is our recommendation for best-value-breakfast).

The showers are only cold which was not a big problem given the warm temperatures.
