Crug Glas Country House

It’s our second visit to Crug Glas. The property is in a perfect spot to explore St David’s and surrounding Pembrokeshire. High praise for Beth, who welcomes you with a smile and makes you feel very welcome. The rooms are boutique, with exceptional attention to detail. Spacious and clean. Meals(breakfast and evening meals) have a great variety and are very tasty.

Nothing to dislike.

Every member of staff here is an expert in making you feel at home. Food was wonderful, with my IBS catered for without fuss, and our rooms off to one side of the main house clean and comfortably put together. Lots of small touches there really made a difference (treats on arrival, towels, bath products). The house is up a lovely winding drive of trees and the broader location is absolutely perfect for exploring the peninsular, being so near to north, west and southern beaches, bays and harbours. We scooted off to Whitesands bay for sunset, for instance, and back for supper. This year’s weather certainly helped, but I would love to return to do some more walking nearby.

Perhaps one element is that the restaurant is quite high-end and there’s nowhere else nearby, so if you just want a snack or a basic meal in the evening you might be a bit stumped.

We stayed in the Abermawr Suite and were warmly welcomed with a very friendly, personal check‑in — the receptionist even carried one of our cases and showed us to the room. The suite is exceptionally spacious and beautifully designed in the attic of the house, where the exposed beams add real character. The bathroom features a large shower with excellent water pressure and top‑quality toiletries. The lounge area includes air conditioning, a smart TV, and a fridge — all adding comfort and convenience. The bedroom is stunning, centred around a gold heritage slipper bath that feels truly luxurious. The bedding is exceptional, and the Sealy memory‑foam mattress offers superb comfort. Towels are thick and high‑end, completing the sense of indulgence. Breakfast was fabulous — prepared with top‑quality ingredients and served with warm, personal attention. The breakfast room includes a lovely conservatory used when there are enough guests staying; we enjoyed breakfast in the conservatory on our first morning and in the dining room on the second, both equally delightful.

The entrance level and bedrooms were really quite tired and really do need an update . All the period elements were not there or covered up . It’s a shame as could be a wonderful house . To be fare some renovations are underway I think it would be to a common lounge. I hope they do it in line with the downstairs area
