La Casa de la Estación

Secure parking for our motorbikes in the garage was very welcome. Lovely cool terrace outside to sit on and while away the time. We were able to order drinks from there. The couple who own the place, or seemed to be in charge, are very friendly and welcoming. The restaurant is an absolute bonus when staying here as it's a lovely large room, nicely decorated and the food was incredible. We had dinner which was very tasty and my tuna steak was cooked just as requested. The smoked egg dish was quite different and very tasty. The homemade orange marmalade which featured on dessert and at breakfast was gorgeous too.

It was a very hot couple of days when we arrived and we found the room incredibly warm. We had to sit on the outdoor terrace for three hours before dinner as the room was too hot. We asked for, and were given, a fan which helped overnight. The window only had a blind on half of it so as soon as the sun came up the next morning the room heated up immediately as we couldn't block it out. I appreciate it isn't as hot all of the time but a decent fan in the room would really have made a big difference to our stay. It took a very long time for the water to warm up in the shower, which was very wasteful I thought.

This is a rustic style small hotel. The rooms are large and very clean. There is a more modern restaurant and the food is excellent. I would have rated the hotel higher overall but for a couple of small points regarding our particular rooms

we had two rooms. In one room there no bedside lights, so the only light was the main centre bright light, not ideal. One of the windows was missing a blind and the curtains were thin, so we got the early morning sunlight, again not ideal. For the ladies, the only mirror was in the bathroom, again I'm told, not ideal. In the second room, the only place in the bathroom to put your toiletries was on the floor.

Lovely hotel with a beautiful grapevine trellis and outdoors. The staff were helpful with our bike trip, they are very knowledgeable and we were able to avoid a lot of constructions.

The dinner was a culinary delight with original recipes exploiting their truffles startling ands delicious.

To be honest, the lack of hot water. We had been warned that it took a long time to get through but twenty minutes exceeds a long time. And still waiting.
