The architecture of the building is impressive.
The Oak Hall lounge was cosy.
We had room 460 and the bed was very comfortable. It was a quiet and spacious room too.
No light nibbles or sandwiches in the Oak Hall lounge and I would expect this in a lounge.
Another couple in the Oak Hall lounge were heavy petting (lady sat on man's lap and constant snogging), which felt inappropriate and staff should have told them to stop or relocate to their own room. Uncomfortable for everyone else around them.
Cocktail bar didn't have the ingredients for a virgin pina colada.
The Cast Iron Grill main restaurant was closed so lunch and dinner were relocated to Vardons, which felt very much like a sports bar so it lowered the quality of our experience.
Decor tired in places e.g. ripped seats, mould on curtains, stains on towels, marks on lampshades.
Lack of coffee machine in the bedroom, which I would expect for a hotel like this.

The bed was really comfortable and nice tv
Spa was really dirty - children screaming all day - short changed on my treatment - would recommend to family’s for a swimming pool but it’s no longer a spa and is very tired indeed.

Absolutely everything, I got married here almost 23 years ago, often return to stay or dine and use spa.
Nothing could be better
6.0 / 10.0
The room was of a good size, the beds comfortable and in a quiet location within the hotel
The restaurant was on the 1st floor and fairly limited in it's provision for dinner the evening that we arrived

The location is lovely
I suppose it felt a bit tired and don’t think people should be able to walk through the Spa area and be able to look in as they pass by. Too open plan and was often cold due to the continuous opening internal and external doors.
Please repair the golf simulator curtain. Long standing hole which is dangerous 🙈

The staff were lovely. The oak panelled room was lovely to have a cocktail in front of the fire before dinner. The pool and spa were good. The building and grounds are beautiful.
I had seen social media posts about a refurbishment but the room I was in had not been recently refurbished - it was quite faded decor. The taps dripped in the bathroom, the bath plug didn't work and the features in the bedroom were not modern. It was all a bit faded glory. Also even though the hotel advertises that is has many restaurants, when we came they had shut the kitchen for 3 months for reburb, without forewarning us, and so we went out for dinner locally.

Location, grounds, breakfast and gym were all strong points
Cleanliness of the room let the whole thing down unfortunately
8.0 / 10.0
The room was a little dated and small for the need (2 x doubles) and price.
The rooms seem to not be soundproof - we were just talking and laughing (not super loud) and got called with a noise complaint, that really put a dampener on our time and we realised afterwards that we could hear the people beside us using the toilet, so were not surprised they heard us laughing.

If you had interconnecting rooms so we could go with 3 kids and 2 adults

Impeccable service, the spa and pool were lovely. Treatments are very nice. Beautiful old Building, lovely grounds.
A bit of a trot to rooms for a disabled lady, but in my haste to book I forgot to tell them! I had a huge family room, however couldn't really relax due to an absolute nightmare family shouting morning noon and night next door ( Room 189)!! The room faces a lovely field, but does need a sheer blind as people walk past.
Room service and service charges are a little excessive. Tray charge PLUS service charge? I didn't realise ordering extra water due to NOT using any cleaning services in 4 days would cost £10 Room service charge, when if I'd had a room clean every day it would have been free!

The room was spacious with a comfy bed. The breakfast was really good and I liked the variety available.
We weren't told about the a la carte menu when we arrived at the restaurant for breakfast which was a shame as we would have liked to order something different.

Elegant well maintained
Nothing at all.
(Small comment on the position of a "No Exit" sign in the parking area which can lead to unfamiliar customers to pop a car tire)

The room was stunning and the staff exceeded expectations by leaving a bottle of bubbly and a card and chocolates for my partner's birthday. We had the best time at this hotel and wished we could stay longer. The swimming pool and sauna facilities are really lovely. The gym is FULLY equipped, one of the best gyms I've seen in a hotel. The grounds are gorgeous and I wished we had time for some golf. I can understand why people book wedding receptions here as the venue is gorgeous. All the halls and spaces are well decorated in time for Christmas. I wish it was closer to where I live.
Nothing to do with the hotel but more a point about the area, we struggled to get a taxi, so in the end had to drive to our dinner reservation.

Comfortable stay
Phoned reception for extra robe, cup and glass as the room, although booked for three, was only set up for two. Unfortunately nothing arrived!

They were maybe a little understaffed on the day we were there. They seemed surprised to be so busy.

The hotel looks gorgeous, the spa is lovely and the buffet breakfast was fantastic
No plug points next to bed, no temperature control in the room, the TV didn't work until it was fixed, only two robes supplied in a room sleeping four, we couldn't connect to the wifi that would have enabled us to stream content from our phone, so just had terrestrial TV to watch, customer service was initially good, then they simply stopped answering the phone, the bed was uncomfortably hard and the duvet very thin

Good venue , spa was nice
Service was not adequate , not enough bath robes in room for guests , we had to ask for extra
Not enough cups for tea we asked for extra but waited for over an hour for one cup and then gave up
Went down for breakfast and were served a cold breakfast and tea on a paper cup

The staff were great.
The room was dated, wallpaper was coming off, signs of wear and tear were seen most places. No AC, lots of bugs. No one asked how the stay was, no one responded to the many times we called from the room. Unfortunately the standard was a little lower than what I would expect from a mariott.

surrounding grounds and some of the internal property features.
Room was poor, not that clean, dated in a lot of ways and overlooked an ugly large, unclean with beer cans, flat roof area and the lift was unsafe and, in fact, soon after i used it broke down with two guys stuck in there for 1.5 hours while the fire brigade came to the rescue. Full breakfast was cold, not even warm.

Location is excellent breakfast was average and bacon was hard and cold eggs were cold coffee mashies wasn’t working milk tub empty no sugar available I asked one of the girls to get some and she didn’t get any has to ask another member of staff
The bed in room 171 has seen better days it was so bad and had a big dip in the middle and they put a duvet under the sheets to cover springs it was uncomfortable and gave me a back ache I called reception and asked for a manager to have a look some one came and agreed that it was unacceptable and they was going to change the mattress we went out for a day came back at 10 that evening and nothing was done my wife left a towel on her pillow and it was still there that night

The location and the grounds were lovely. The staff were very polite and helpful. Breakfast was really good.
The hotel needs to be modernised. It was very hot in the room and no plugs or beside lights in the room. We had extremely noisy neighbours keeping my husband and daughter awake. The walls are very thin.

Staff were so accommodating. We arrived the night of our wedding and were surprised to see champagne and chocolates on arrival to celebrate. Very lovely
A debriefing on arrival when checking in would have been great

Outsiders area was beautiful of the hotel. The gardens, golf yards - fantastic!
It seemed quite out dated rooms and hallways. The inside of the hotel didn’t matched the beauty of the building outside. Also, cleaning service was a little poor as after first night no one came to clean my room, the day after I had to ask at the reception for it to happen.
