    I really want to leave a positive review as it was a hard weekend with the temperature in the 30s. There was no air con, only a fan in the room and it was so hot, even at night. I know that is not the fault of the hotel, just stating how it was. Saying that, its an old building and has a lot of character, however there were issues with the shower, which we complained about but couldnt be sorted while we were there. It really needs an upgrade in all areas of the rooms, it is looking dated and tired. But it was the cheapest place to stay for us locally as we needed to be in town and meant we werent in any of the big chain hotels in the service station. That would have been so much worse! There is no onsite parking, but a small car park within a 1 minute walk. I think it cost about £15 for the weekend in the end, but you could only pay in periods you couldnt pay for the whole weekend in 1 go. Would I stay again, without a doubt.

    we checked in, checked room and went straight across street to tourist information to seek other accomodation. Place is so tired and grubby, my partner said no way are we staying here, so we forfeited the money and left. Until the place has a makeover and some paint ,I defy people to stay there.

    Look, its old, in a noisy part of town, a bit run down, steep stairs, but we loved it. The location means step outside and you have restaurants and cages within 100 metres. The bonus was seeing a fox running down the road at 4am!

    Really very basic. The towel and shower was OK. Nice provision of coffee. Awfully shabby and unprofessional place, not worth what I paid. Does the job if you need a night to get to Stansted
