Colosshouse guest house

I travelled to Rome on my first solo trip and stayed at Colosshouse Guest House for two nights. I had a lovely experience and felt very comfortable throughout my stay. The room was clean, comfortable, and had fully working air conditioning, which was especially appreciated after a long day of exploring Rome. Wifi worked well with no issues. The location was excellent- just a 15-minute walk from the Colosseum and within easy walking distance of a supermarket, local cafés, and other amenities. The guest house is located in an apartment building on a quiet residential street, and I felt very safe staying there as a solo traveller. The host was friendly, welcoming, and easy to communicate with, providing clear instructions for finding the apartment and for check-in and check-out. He also shared lots of helpful tips and recommendations, which made exploring Rome even more enjoyable. I would highly recommend Colosshouse Guest House to both solo travellers and couples. I would definitely stay here again on my next trip to Rome!

A mini-fridge and tea/coffee-making facilities in the room would be a welcome addition and would make the stay even more convenient. One thing to be aware of is that the walls are quite thin, so I could hear noise from other guests, particularly at night. This is not the host’s fault, but it may be worth keeping in mind if you are a light sleeper.

I just wanted a room for the night within walking distance of Rome Termini station, as I had a large suitcase and needed to catch the train to the airport the next day. The room was as you would expect, small and simple but that it was I expected from the stay. The staff were helpful with the check-in process, and provided basic amenities. It also came with free wifi.

Communication with the host were not nice. 1. we were checking in and dropping off bags, we have another friend with us. The older guy who check us in did not speak English well but me managed to communicate. He said it’s only two who can stay, I said yes and explain that the other person is a friend who is going to the airport and we are here to just drop off bags. I thought it was cleared up until I received a long text from the English speaking host lecturing us that only two people are registered and we cannot have 3 people there. To then I replied, yes understood, we are only 2 people staying. Then he sent another long lecture message saying as far as that the police can come and do checks on this. I called him, clarified, then all good again. 2. a day before check out, I asked about the possibility of late check out until 4pm as we need a space to work. I expect a simple yes/no answer together with the info on the cost if the late check out is possible. I received a very late reply to just inform me the checkout time. I thanked him for the info and repeated my question. Again after waiting for sometime, he repeated the same info and added there that there MIGHT be a new check in so NO, check out late is not possible. We tried to call so we can clarify this but he didn’t pick up the call but again we received a long lecture message soon after, about how a booking time is agreed and that there’s a certain time of check in and check out and soon and soon + “otherwise we have to pay for a half day”. This was the info that we wanted all along, if the room is available for late check out and how much. But by this time, we already did not like the experience and let it go and do our work elsewhere.
