About this cottage rental
Goikomaia is a typical Basque village of the 18th century, also called Goikoetxebarri.
It is located in the valley of Atxondo, Bizkaia, in front of Mount Amboto.
We have had little to do in exterior decoration, because Mari de Amboto, mythological and ancestral protective witch, already took care of it.
The necessary rehabilitation was done in 2008, with the same materials, natural and ecological (stone and wood), and with geothermal energy.
4 rooms with large bathroom, (1 for the disabled), 1 service, 1 large kitchen, and about 125m2 of living rooms with large windows, make up approximately 350m2 of housing.
It is located in the middle of the mountain, just 3km from Apatamonasterio, urban center with transport, medical service, supermarket etc.
8 hectares of forest, green, silence, independence and privacy await you.
For whatever you want (Weekend, vacations, weddings, family reunions, or business meetings).

Beautiful well equipped, spacious property.
Lovely peaceful location to get away from it all.
Very spacious, even more so in reality than it would seem from the photos, meaning everyone can find their own space if needed. Lots of options for dining inside or outside.
Perfect for an extended family.

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Goikomaia. The communication with the host was great from the begining and the check-in process was very easy.
The house is wonderful! Both the surrounding views and the comforts and beauty of the renovated old house. During our stay we got to explore Basque Country and a little bit of France too, and we were always happy to come back to Casa Goikomaia at the end of the day. We had a great time and we would love to stay again.

I can’t draw up a better vacation property than this; 5 stars are not enough. Sure, is there more convenient lodging? Of course. But we didn’t travel this far to discover convenience. This, for us, was the perfect accommodation to bask in the wonderment of this mysterious land. The farmhouse was pristine; the views epic; and Ana was the ideal host. What more can you possibly ask for from a rental?

The whole of the experience was wonderful.
The house, set on the side of a mountain, has superb views and is wonderfully spacious and well equipped.. Better still, in very hot weather, the inside was cool whilst outside there was plenty of room to move around. Ana was a superb host and helped us to arrange a seven course taster menu meal for a special birthday meal from the local Akebaso Jatetxea restaurant on a day when the restaurant was actually closed - an excellent meal and thoroughly recommended.
Overall Ana helped to make this a very special stay in what is an excellent holiday home in a very special location.. Before our visit she was incredibly helpful and supportive and was there to welcome us ,earlier that at the published time, as she was aware of a 22 month old child who had been travelling for 36 hours and needed to settle into a new environment - even sending her husband out to find us when we went on a local (unintended) detour.
