La Ferme Wessière

Our hostess, Françoise, was very friendly and spoke excellent English! Nothing was too much trouble, she told us the best places to go - even printing information on local places of interest specifically for us. The accommodation was quaint, clean and perfect for the two of us. The 1950s/60s themed kitchen was well-equipped and even had a dishwasher! The bed was very comfortable, there were easy chairs for relaxing in the evening and always plenty of hot water in the shower. We had the bonus of a patio table and chairs - perfect for morning coffee or breakfast and there were also hammock chairs in the garden we could use. The garden was beautiful, with sculptures and water features - obviously a passion, along with a small boutique where you can buy Françoise's lovely home-made ceramics or local artists' goods. Only 10 minutes to the beach (by car) or to the centre of Calais. Oye-Plage evening market was well worth a visit, with local artisan stalls, food and live music. We had a great week and definitely plan on staying there again.

There was nothing we didn't like. We timed it just as the farmers were harvesting but we were not disturbed by any noise from them and, in fact, we enjoyed watching them! Bonus of a Chinook and a Black Hawk flypast on one of our evenings probably because of the small airfield nearby.

The place was clean and modern, and very well equipped to stay for the period of time we did. There was plenty of heating throughout the house, an oven a stove and even a small dishwasher! The shower was also very modern with great water pressure. Plenty of nice art around the house made it also feel very welcoming and cosy. Francoise was also a great host, we managed to have many nice conversations with her and she gave us some eggs from her hens for breakfast 😁. There is a beautiful garden outside the housing and the location is great when coming with a car - close to all the attractions in the Opal coast.

Good to know that the beds are a bit smaller and the stairs can be a bit awkward to go down them. Neither of these are dealbreakers though!

Cette maison est située dans un lieu idyllique, très calme et avec un très joli jardin, une terrasse conviviale et un lieu d exposition d ouvrages artistiques divers. Ce n'est pas loin de la mer pour les amateurs. Et il y a beaucoup de ressources touristiques dans le secteur. La propriétaire est charmante, très accueillante et disponible en cas de nécessité puisqu elle loge à côté. Nous avons même eu droit à des œufs de ses poules et des tomates de son jardin.

L escalier qui permet d accéder aux chambres à l étage est très raide et peu adapté aux personnes peu mobiles. L absence de toilettes à l étage contraint à l utilisation de cet escalier la nuit par exemple. Les lampes de chevet sont très insuffisantes pour pouvoir lire. Certes il y a un plafonnier, mais ça oblige à se relever pour éteindre!! Il y a une ambiguïté dans l annonce de booking concernant le linge de maison. Seuls sont compris ds la location, les draps, mais serviettes et torchons sont à apporter ou à payer en supplément à la propriétaire. Or l annonce de booking dit " linge de maison". Il faudrait que booking soit plus précis ds la description

The host Françoise is really very nice. Thank you for the delicious bio eggs coming from their own chickens. Relaxing and private quiet location. Big shower.
