Great location, clean room with everything we needed.
Concrete pillar in the room right by bed meant had to think when getting out of bed so not to walk in to it! Dinner service was very poor, 3 times they attempted to get us the bill over a 40 min period (making us late for the show we were seeing)and then told we hadn’t paid the next day when checking out (proof given that we had paid!). Breakfast a little disappointing … asked for boiled egg on toast and was told they could do me a boiled egg but I’d have to make the toast myself at the buffet. Felt like we were an inconvenience rather than welcome guests. Hopefully just a blip, but did leave us disappointed.

Good location
Room was too dark, sink was blocked. No hot water for the sink or shower. I was extremely disappointed in this as I had heard good things. Other guests I spoke to expressed the same concerns and problems.

Nice view
Heating didn’t work. Reception was unhelpful. Breakfast was unavailable and they didn’t inform us of that. Fire alarm tests kept going on. Disturbing our stay.

Loved how comfy the beds are, bathrooms are lovely and spacious and the staff were lovely!
Originally booked for a spa hotel (this isn’t one despite it being stated that it is on booking.com) and the reception in the hotel isn’t great, but it once connected to WiFi it was much better!

I like the room. It was nice big spacious. I like the location pricewise is not bad.
Pillows are very uncomfortable and it was so loud around I could not sleep

Although most of the decor looks tired, it was clean throughout.
The rainfall shower was amazing (when there was hot water).
The breakfasts were great and the waiter that served us on both days was amazing, very professional and friendly.
The view from both the room and the restaurant were pretty impressive.
We checked in around 10pm and when we went to the room the light bulb was out. We were told there were no maintenance teams so we they didn’t think they could get a lightbulb. There is no ceiling light and the only lights were over the bedside tables or the hallway.
During our 2 night stay we had minimal light, the hot water was inconsistent, the housekeeping didn’t come in so we made our own bin bags and had to ask for water, the front entrance door broke so had to use a back entrance to get into the hotel, the heating was locked so couldn’t change the temperature but it must be an ongoing issue because the room came with an oil heater and a fan.
There was a large pillar in the room which wasted a lot of space and was not advertised as a potential for the type of room we booked.
The communication from the reception desk was very poor, we waited 45 mins to see if anyone was coming back to fix the light before we gave up and went to bed.

Balcony, staff, room all lovely.
The shower. Just found it too fiddly. Once working is was grand, but that's the only thing from stopping me giving it 10/10. I really enjoyed my stay here.

It was a great location
The rooms were very cold and dark. No proper lighting in the bedroom area and the dressing table area is very dark with no option for lighting. The carpets are very heavily stained. Bed was extremely soft and we kept dipping into the middle which was very uncomfortable

The location was perfect!
The view from the hotel room was stunning!
Waiting for the lift as there was a busy event on upstairs

Great views over Birmingham and the rain shower (so many hotels have over bath showers where the water dribbles out). Maybe a small point, but a good shower is important for me.
Paying £50 security deposit??? Thought that practice has died out long ago. But not a show stopper.

Location
In the early hours of the morning, around 2-3am, we contacted reception and were informed that the heating for the entire hotel was broken. This is something we should have been notified of prior to our stay, as we would have chosen alternative accommodation had we known. During this first call, we were told that blankets would be brought to our room.
After waiting, no one arrived, so we called a second time and were again told someone would come. We waited for a considerable amount of time while extremely cold, but still no one came, which led us to call a third time.
Eventually, a staff member informed us that there were no blankets available and instead brought duvet covers. These were thin sheets and did not provide any warmth, offering no real solution to the problem.
As a result, both my partner and I had a very poor night’s sleep. We were extremely tired the following morning, missed breakfast, which we paid for in advance and the lack of sleep had a significant negative impact on our family plans on New Year’s Day. This experience fell far below acceptable standards.

The noise, I didn’t realise it we would be below such a lively restaurant/bar. You could hear everything until about 2am. People in corridors sound like they are in your room.

Great location. Parking is easy.
The room was too hot and the air conditioning was difficult to change the temperature

Staff polite, very quick check in and instructions on where to find room and breakfast were very clear. The breakfast was fantastic, nice simple selection and the menu for cooked foods also small but each customisable.
The mattress was very uncomfortable, could feel springs and four of the pillows were extremely hard. Really did not have a good nights sleep.

Location and room view
Noise. I mean proper noise. Our room was on the 24 th floor and right above us was a party venue. Loud music till 1.15 am then decided to move some tables about. I called reception to be told it was on the welcome sheet given at check in and to be fair It was but small on the bottom of the page. Surely they should inform at the booking stage. At 1 am I decided this was the main problem and the fact there was no heating apart from a portable oil heater and the hot water was variable in it's heat and availability were the smaller problems. I think it was the worst hotel sleep since the early 2000s in the Scarborough grand. That still gives me the shivers.

Great location for shopping dinner and attending the concert at the nearby arena
The room was freeeezing! The carpet was filthy and the place looked very very tired. A refurb is clearly overdue

Cleaniness
7.0 / 10.0
Amazing location for the city centre, we always stay here and go upstairs for dinner. Clean, great views, just beware that rooms vary massively- paid the same price for a room with a full size window, massive walkways, and nicer view, compared to one with a tiny window, not much wiggle room, and one mirror in the whole room!
Staff were very rude. Reception does not feel approachable, cleaning staff didn’t answer when greeted in the mornings, need some customer service training.

We had a meal at the restaurant and everything was incredible and the staff were amazing :)

Really nice hotel, good views, room was lovely! Food was good at breakfast, showers were hot.
It’s dated but it’s fine for what you are paying, I imagine no air con would be an issue in the summer

No staff at reception desk (if you can call it that- this feels like a building with a couple of floors with hotel rooms, not a hotel in the way you might expect). Waited for 15 minutes. Ended up going up to bar on 23rd level -where the staff were generally disinterested- to find someone (receptionist young and inexperienced was at lunch, no thought to cover her on the desk). No aircon in room, only a noisy fan and portable heater. We were told that this was the same in all rooms in the building… so we checked out and went to the Malmaison, only a short walk way, same price and miles better.

Desperately needs a referral. And the mattress on the bed had seen better days very uncomfortable really bad night sleep.

Good location that is it
It was absolutely filthy , we didn’t realise the mould and dirt until showering the next morning otherwise we would of requested to move , the bed squeaked with every move made . The mattress felt cheap and the pillows were clearly in operation for a long time . The “double bed “ was basically a big single bed. Very disappointing as it’s advertised as a nice 4 star hotel . I expressed my disappointment to staff upon leaving and they didn’t seem to care . So I will be sharing this across all travel sites

The room was amazing, along with the amazing views. Easy to turn on the heat or the airconditioning, great options with lighting in the room and a spacious bathroom and wardrobe.
Unfortunately, we had to go to reception multiple times as the room key kept stopped working, despite the key cards being kept no where near mobile phone. And we coldn't et any hot water from the taps or the shower, so couldn't enjoy a hot shower in the morning.

The only good thing was the view, the rest was rubbish. The hotel is in terrible shape and should not really be taking people’s money.
It was run down, the common areas were dirty, the ventilation system was noisy. I could go on …
