About this cabin rental

Take a break from the hustle and bustle and rejuvenate in nature. Enjoy any season in our handbuilt cabin for 2 (adults only please) sitting on 12 acres. Owners on front of property. No other guests are on the property during your stay. Sits in heart of big Amish settlement. In the country but close to Ashland city. Only 15 minutes from I-71. Check in between 2p and 7p.

This is a rustic handbuilt cabin for 2 adults for a camping experience. Twin bunk beds. We will provide sheets but please bring own bedding. Quickly go back to a simpler time where your heat is a wood stove and your alarm clock is the birds singing. No electricity. Outhouse with ecofriendly toilet and running water (for washing only). LED lantern and solar lights provided to light your way. Back porch with comfortable chairs to rest on. Outdoor firepit with cooking grate. Gazebo next to cabin with table for enjoying your meals or playing a game of checkers or cards. Enjoy a walk around the property on trails. Wildflowers and gardens. Bring your charcoal or use our wood. Cash donations for wood accepted. Catch and release fishing in pond. Smoking outside of cabin allowed. Alcohol allowed in moderation. Consider staying 2 nights so you have a full day to have time to enjoy the local area. While it is usually quiet the sounds of country can be heard which includes farm machinery, animals, local private gun club can be heard occasionally.

Guests will have access to the walking trails, pond, and pavilion. Please wander and enjoy the beauty. Have a relaxing meal in the pavilion by the pond.

The Trading Post. Look around inside or sit on the rocking chair on the front porch. We have items hand made locally by our Amish neighbors and curiosities hand made by Cabin for 2 owners.

Laura’s place is located in Polk, Ohio, United States.

We are located in heart of an Amish community. You may see buggies, horse teams, animals of all kinds. Owner may be able to take you to visit Amish blacksmith shop, sawmill, and organic produce farm. These visits subject to Amish availability. Nearby attractions include Ashland University, Dragway 42, Grandpa's Cheesebarn, produce auction (seasonal), and local Amish roadside stands. Many food options available in Ashland or bring your own and use our grill.

Please be careful and watch out for Amish buggies/ wagons moving slowly on roadways. All main roads until our rural road.

The cabin for two is one of my favorite places to stay. It's as close to being out in nature as you can get without a tent. Jeff & Laura are fantastic - they'll leave you alone if you're looking for space, but talking with them is one of my favorite parts of visiting. I am not a dog person, but their dogs are so well-behaved and adorable they've won my heart! Lots of great walking trails, and so so many stories about the property and location. Remember to bring a cooler and potable water when you come. They have a General Store stocked with handmade goods (when I stayed this included brooms, walking sticks, whistles, birdhouses, straw hats, benches) - bring some extra cash if you feel you mgiht want to bring home a souvenir!

My recent stay at a charming cabin in Vrbo turned out to be an unforgettable experience. Nestled in the heart of Amish country, this cozy retreat provided the perfect blend of tranquility and a taste of old-school charm. The highlight of our trip was the presence of the Amish community in the neighborhood. Exploring the area on bikes, we were treated to the sight of adorable Amish children collecting maple syrup. It was a unique and heartwarming experience that added a special touch to our stay. The cabin itself was a haven of warmth and comfort. Equipped with a wood stove, we were delighted to find that the hosts had provided ample wood for our use. However, our enthusiasm got the best of us on the first night, resulting in a bit of unintentional heat – a humorous memory we will cherish. The cozy ambiance of the cabin, coupled with the crackling warmth of the wood stove, made our evenings truly delightful. Jeff and Laura, the hosts, were genuinely warm and welcoming. Their beautiful land provided us with ample opportunities to relax and enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. We particularly enjoyed our time spent in the peaceful outdoors, appreciating the beauty of nature.

My partner and I stayed on the first chilly weekend and had a great time relaxing and cozying up here. We usually camp so this was a welcome luxury for us. Jeff and Laura were kind and made for great conversation (and brought us great coffee), but also left us to our own devices. The property is wonderful and so is the story behind every little piece of it. If you're debating your stay, it is worth every penny.

Dogs ate are dinner. Tried to get 5 dogs to stop eating our food with no luck. I have cancer and couldn't help my husband fend off 5 dogs from eating our dinner we just took off grill. Had to leave because that was are only food and I was starving. We just packed up with me crying and left. A waste of money we don't have for overnight stay and food

This property and the cabin were...just right. Having such a well-groomed lawn surrounding the cabin and for the trails was such a nice bonus. Abounding wild flowers for the season, serenading crickets and frogs, a lovely pond, the owner's ornamental flower gardens, a special memory garden (an idea we plan to use), a clean and unique outhouse with sink, the charm of candlelight and lantern inside, star gazing, and the cabin's porch to watch the sunrise with the birds...perfect. The owner's several friendly dogs greeted us in the morning but were otherwise quiet and out of sight during our stay. Thoughtful and kind describe the owners. Friendly and available if needed. Much care and hard work (owner built the cabin and other buildings around the property) by Both owners went into making their property beautiful. For our stay, we had no disturbances of any kind, just peacefulness and relaxation in a private grassy alcove nestled next to the woods. (And we gathered apples from the tree ;-). Just right.

I needed a little getaway reset & I really lucked out with this place. Jeff & Laura are so kind & welcoming. You have your own little oasis that Jeff built. I slept so good & went on little hikes throughout the day. Laura’s flowers are out of control!! It was such a nice experience i will be back

Truly the best camping experience I have ever had. My husband and I had a wonderful time and have already told all our friends and family how wonderful the place was and how friendly the owners are. We enjoyed every moment we were there and were sad when we had to leave.

The owners were the most communicative hosts I’ve ever had at a Vrbo/BnB. Very sweet people who were warm and hospitable, but also gave me space and privacy to enjoy their property. Their property is quite inspiring. They have a book in the cabin that describes their story and how they have worked to make it a beautiful place. I got lucky and they had just picked strawberries the morning I planned to leave. They offered me a quart and they were actually some of the best strawberries I’ve had in my life, not even exaggerating. The cabin was cozy and had what I needed. I was looking for a solitary place not too remote that was a bit more like camping without actually camping, and this was perfect. I used the fire pit to make my meals and even coffee. I went for some walks and played music on the back porch of the cabin overlooking a meadow. I bought a couple things in the “Trading Post” made by local amish folk. It was a really lovely stay.

Worst experience ever..should have never even went after all the issuers ahead of check in..then after getting there?i talked with the owner more the first night and next morning then i did my wife.6:30am first morning im awoken by a knock on the cabin door,then 20 minutes later dude is back again with all 5 dogs sitting around my morning camp fire while waiting breakfast to be cooked.VRBO wants to call the contay(lives on property)have a talk with him,then he comes right back down asking what the issue is.i stayed 1 night in the cabin,next night in a hotel,then bext morning packed up and got outta dodge and had to spend rest of vacation in a different hotel

Jeff & Laura have an amazing slice of Heaven and are the sweetest people to have shared it with us and many others before us. We loved every acre, trail, bird, flower we seen!!! Mom of 8 here and came to relax for one night. Jeff and Laura made sure that happened they even brought me a delicious dinner so I didn’t have to leave the cabin once I checked in. They also brought me coffee in the morning. I have never felt so spoiled. The cabin was everything I dreamed of and the property was incredibly beautiful. Walking the trails and sitting on the bridge praying to our Lord truly did something to my soul. The bed was so comfortable and the cabin was so stinking cute, just perfect. Listening to the woodpeckers and reading a book on the porch was so peaceful. The trading post was amazing also, it was like having a little shopping store right there. Jeff is very talented making things out of wood. I will be back for sure this summer and get me some homemade maple syrup straight from the trees on Jeff and Laura’s property. Jeff and Laura made me feel very comfortable like family. If I could rate this 100 stars I would.

Dog Lovers Paradise! I have to say the local Amish milled live edge siding of the cabin was a sight to behold. The hosts did everything within their power to make my stay as pleasant as possible! I greatly enjoyed roughing it off grid, wood stove heat, and plenty of country air. Waking up daily to a beautiful sunrise and a meadow full of cheerful birds was the refresher I needed. Seeing the osprey was definitely a perk! Grace and peace to the wonderful hosts from the Father of Lights, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

My SO and I stayed here for the weekend and ended up booking another day while we were there, we weren't ready to leave. No electricity, no distractions, just my SO and I making memories and new friends. The hosts at Cabin are incredible people, their property is absolutely stunning, and the cabin is exactly what we were looking for to relax and disconnect. The dogs greeted us when they seen us and made our stay that much better! If you want to get away to disconnect, relax, fish and walk trails, this is the place to be.

I desperately needed a night away alone. This was the perfect quick getaway for me to enjoy a one night retreat. I attended a local yoga session and enjoyed a nice long massage in the nearby town of Ashland. After returning to the cabin it was pure bliss and serenity. Beautiful walking trails and only the sound of nature to listen to all night - exactly what I needed and wanted! :D The craftsmanship in this place is amazing and this sweet couple truly build a park-like setting.

We did not want to do anything but spend time together, just the two of us, and the Cabin for 2 was the perfect place for us to unwind, rest and revel in being together. It was an adventure in simple living and, oh, so relaxing. The solitude was just what we needed. Laura and Jeff were wonderful hosts, making sure we had what we needed, and they were so welcoming. Pictures do not do justice, it is way more beautiful in person. It’s so calm and quiet. I felt like I was at home. Im beyond happy that I was able to remove myself from the world and be here for a weekend. They went out of their way to make something special for our weekend that you probably wouldn’t get most places. We also received a gift to remember our amazing weekend and first wedding anniversary! I cried on my way home a few times, wasn’t ready to go back home. Lol. Will be returning for sure!

Laura and Jeff were and are absolutely amazing. My finance and I booked for the second time not long after our first trip where we stayed for one night and realized that just wasn't enough. They recommended to us if we came back in the middle of July everything would be bloomed and beautiful and it absolutely was! We enjoyed the garden where we picked fresh veggies for our dinner over the fire and got some much needed rain! Caught fish in the pond, walked the property trails, explored some of Amish country and brought home some amazing handmade items by Jeff and other Amish goods straight from the property! We had the most awesome friends to spend the weekend with too! The doggies! My personal favorite is buck he's so sweet and the best greeter. Can't wait to be back in the fall and winter! Thank you again Laura and Jeff it was amazing! 😊

Jeff & Laura were both fantastic hosts. They're willing to leave you be if you're looking for solitude, and are more than happy to let you join them on their dog walks if you feel like talking. The cabin is wonderful, perfect for a little getaway and stay in nature. I had a massive thunderstorm roll through while there and it was the most amazing experience. The trails out back and the view from both the pond and the observation tower are perfect. Their dogs are the best-behaved pups I have ever met - I am not a dog person but I fell in love with them. Pack water and stuff to cook over a campfire and you'll be good to go! Looking forward to visiting during the winter in the snow.

I could write an entire book on our one day experience because it was really just that fantastic. Jeff and Laura were extremely welcoming when we first got there and through our entire trip and we're there for anything we needed. We were shown around the property and got to enjoy everything they have to offer all on our own and it felt nice to be able to look around at all of the things they've worked hard to build. Once of my personal favorites was "jeffsville" and "Dakota tower." We were also welcomed and told goodbye by the sweetest dogs! "Buck" and his howl is the cutest thing! They always seemed to show up at the perfect time between stopping before dinner and the good morning "hellos"! We enjoyed some Amish country and received a beautiful gift handmade by Jeff. I truly believe we have found our "home" away from home. It was the perfect get away for my fiance and I, we look forward to seeing Laura, Jeff, all of the animals, and this beautiful property again soon. What they have created here is amazing and the fact that they share it with others is amazing as well.❤️
