Las Catalinas Coronado

Place was ok but not proper for a bagpacker. It s like a big sleeping suburb.

I was told there was no bus service to leave the isolated resort. Which i realized the day after it t was not true. I believe it was a language misunderstanding but I am used to communicate a lot so really poor job.

Didn't have breakfast

Water wasn't hot but not cold either. Very close to beach and great location! Had dinner the first night and fried plantains and yuca seemed to need to be cooked on higher temp as very oily.

The property is lovely. I liked the gardens. Lots of colorful plants and flowers.

It’s an enclosed compound. The front gate is padlocked at night. One morning, I went to catch the sunrise over the ocean. But I could not find a way out. I finally found another door but when I exited, I feared that I wouldn’t be allowed back in. If there was a security guard on duty, this person could not be found. I understand the need to protect guests and property against theft, but I didn’t like being held prisoner inside the compound either.

The gardens on the property are beautiful. Staff were friendly. Room was a great size for a solo traveller and had all amenities.

One of the pools was closed for refurbishment so the smaller pool got overcrowded. Room could have been cleaner as I found some dust balls on floor. Also found what looked like strings of sugarcane between matress and bed frame. Shower worked but was not warm. Couldn't buy alcohol at bar so had to walk 30 mins to look local shop or take a 3 dollar taxi ride to supermarket. No fridges in rooms so also had to buy ice daily. Really don't understand this!!! It was a pretty but very quiet location not a lot seems to happen in Coronado. However, 5 mins walk to black sand beach with clear water. No bars/restaurants on beach but nice to chill.
